Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Women's:

Good jacket. It's been waterproof every time I've used it except once. I'm a college student that conducts field work once a week in wet, rainy Washington state. The only complaint I have is that it's kind of large. I'm able to fit many layers (baselayers, flannel shirt, fleece jacket, and even a large winter jacket) underneath it. I don't mind that it runs large, but if you're looking for it to fit tighter, I would suggest going down a size. I unfortunately ordered an XS and could not exchange for a size smaller. I'd say that overall, it's a good rain jacket and is durable. I tend to be hard on my clothes and it's withstood many snags on branches and such.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Women's:

I just bought this jacket and wanted to say why I chose it. I tried on every comparable jacket and this one seemed the best quality (good seams, won't rip easily) rain jackets in it's price range, it fits nicely, and made me look cute.

The fit: I tried it on over REI Revelcloud jacket (which I also got because it was so comfy) and it fit comfortably over with a tiny bit more room to spare, but not too much- just the right amount I thought. The jacket is long enough to just cover my rear, which I also like. It also had nice adjuster things at the base, sleeves, front of hood and inside/back of the hood so I can make it fit just right. And I thought it was attractive/cute looking to boot. Yes!

This review is not so put-to-the-test as other reviews as I haven't really worn it much, but hopefully it will prove helpful.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Women's:

I needed a rain jacket, and this one came in nice bright colors which I feel is refreshing when the weather outside is drab. I actually took this jacket on my trip to Costa Rica and it came in handy since it was rainy season! Kept me fairly dry during our rainy hikes!

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Women's:

I purchased this jacket specifically as a windbreaker for riding my bike. I am not a super athelete, but I like to get out and ride for a workout. All other jackets I have tried would accumulate moisture inside the jacket after a little while. This one breathes really well. The only accumulation of moisture happened right on the seam sealed seams and where any extra logo stitching is on the jacket, everywhere else was dry. It's just an added bonus that it's a rain coat too. It's a pretty color (I got the Aramanth), nice styling and will work well for hiking and kicking around town on windy and possibly rainy days. I haven't actually needed to use it in the rain yet but I'm sure it will perform beautifully when I do. For me it's a great value in that I can use it for biking, hiking and everyday use. It is slighty noisy, but not a hinderance, and I like the fact that the hood comes up right under your chin, that way I can hide behind it when it's cold and windy. The sleeves are slightly long for me, I'm 5'6" and there is plenty of room in the size L for me to wear my nanopuff jacket, so it's great for layering.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Women's:

I just returned from a weekend on the Blue Ridge section of the AT. It was around 45 F and the drizzle turned into a downpour as we got into camp. I brought this jacket along and threw it on as we set up the tents, and it worked beautifully. Good coverage and great features like the adjustable hood, zipper ventilation, and large pockets. If it were colder I'd need an insulating layer underneath, but it worked like a charm during an April deluge. Smart design, reliability, and versatility are what you can expect with Patagonia.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Women's:

So far I'm very pleased with this jacket. I rode down from the Oregon Zoo 8 miles in a windy heavy rain to my house -- I was dry and comfortable. Not sure if it's durable as I have only had it for a month. I finally figured out to adjust the hood so it stays up and fits snugly enough to keep out the wind -- without having to zip the jacket all the way up, engaging that rigid collar covering my chin and mouth. I don't like the stiff collar at all. These are quite common on rain jackets, uncomfortable, and I wish they'd disappear.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Women's:

Well, this is my first Patagonia jacket, and I just got it - haven't tried it in action as of yet, so I don't know if it's water/wind-proof, or breatheable, BUT: I am a bit confused by the way it looks... The outside looks like a fabric, but the inside is plastic!... Not sure it's worth of the money I paid... I would say, it's more like a $30-40 thing...
Other than that... the purple color is very nice, light reflecting, I am 5'9" @ 135 lbs, always have short sleeves problem - the sleeves are long, although I got size S. Fits very comfortable.
Not returning though - will see how it's in action. Will come back to change my feedback if it's worth and it does stand the features it claims.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Women's:

I purchased this jacket to wear in Ecuador during the rainy season. It kept me dry in even the heaviest downpours as long as I kept it zipped all the way up and the neck velcro secure. In the jungle, the arm vents were great for allowing venting.
My only complaint is that there is an inner pocket, but it is not zippered and for safety reasons, I would have liked an inner zippered pocket.
