The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor:
When I read the only other review, I felt obliged to share my opinion. I've owned a bunch of different HRM's including Polar's. This is -- by far -- the best price point HRM around. It has a unique graphic display with info on whether you're fat burning or in the fitness zone. It saves info for up to 99 workouts that can be uploaded -- with purchase of Polar Flowlink usb receiver -- to [@] to view and analyze HR info. Polar hit a home run with this one and the FT4 with similar features excepting the data uploading capability.

Comments about Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor:
I've been using the polar FT7 for over a month now, and am very satisfied. I workout around 3 hours a week, doing cardio at the gym, and have even used it during one yoga class. With simple features, though just the right features that I seek (HR, calories, time in cardio zone etc), I find it quite easy to use.
I also purchased the data link, which allows me to instantly upload my workout sessions to an online account. This free service tracks my progress, and gives some simple graphs and such. Though the data it captures and retains is very basic (almost too basic), I still find it motivational to keep and track my workouts.
With regard to one of the reviews another person posted about the FT7, it seemed that that person was more angry about the service they received at their store (in colorado?)than this product itself. They didn't seem to have very much to say at all about the product itself.
Anywho, I myself am very happy with the FT7. My only concern is if I start training for a half iron man, which I am contemplating, I think I would want to upgrade to a model with more features. But this one is just enough for right now, and is exactly what it sells itself as.

Comments about Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor:
Just had my best outdoor bike workout thanks to my new HR monitor. I mounted the FT7 on handlebars next to my bike computer showing speed. I soon realized it wasn't enough to maintain a certain speed as there were too many factors that would allow me to reduce the work load and still maintain the speed. Seeing my HR drop as the speed stayed constant convinced me at times I wasn't putting forth enough effort. So, I pushed it and realized it was far more important to monitor the HR than speed. The ability to save data from last 99 workouts is another motivating feature. I'm stoked!

Comments about Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor:
It meets all my requirements for cardio training. There's nothing too fancy and nothing too cheap with this monitor. I find it has an attractive design. It is super simple to use, and the buttons work when pressed. Previous monitors I've had were made with weak straps or were too bulky (a bit too industrial). This one has an easy maintenance strap that is light and nicely flexible (machine washable) - the detachable unit is great too.

Comments about Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor:
This product does all it claims to do in terms of recording information.
Unfortunately the contrast on the watch display is such that it can be read only in the brightest of lights. The backlight feature is useless.
I am definitely returning this product. Also , it takes quite a while to go from the exercise recording mode to the time mode . If you want to know the time and you're biking, you'd better do it on a straight, smooth stretch of road.

Service and delivery comments:
This was the second HRM I have ever purchased and I was looking for a store that had basic training in using or selling a HRM. REI is not the place.
It took 4 trips to the Boulder REI store to actually get the Polar HRM. The first two, I waited for 20 minutes for a staff member with a key to show up. The third time they gave me a women's model, which work about 3 time before the heart rate function quit working. A call to polar and some web based trouble shooting had me replace the transmitter battery, but it still would not work. I took it back to the store, and had to tell the staff member to get me a men's version (the wrist band is very small on the women's model) I can't imagine purchasing a GPS or something requiring a level of intelligence to sell from REI. It is no wonder we have folks out there setting off their emergency responders out of ignorance.

Comments about Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor:
I'm on my 3rd Polar HRM. The first one was a prior model with the non-replaceable battery. My first Polar FT7 was very unreliable and was replaced by REI. I'm on my 2nd FT7 and the it seems to read alot lower BPM than my previous 2 models. I'm searching for a new HRM. I like the calories burned feature, but some screens are small for reading while active.
