Rated5out of5byKyle the Whitewater KayakerfromDurable, lightweight, and versatileThese pants have performed exceptionally since I bought them. I've taken them with me on every outdoor adventure I've been on in the past couple of years. They have brushed against countless boulders, been through all sorts of weather conditions (sun, rain, wind, and snow), and still look great. The bottom of the pant legs are a bit torn up, but that's due to buying a pair that was a bit too long. That was my own fault.
I 100% recommend this product. They are very durable and will last you through all sorts of excursions. They are also lightweight and pack easily.
One VERY minor drawback. The belt seems to pop off a little too easily for my preference.

Rated4out of5byRanger ScottfromGood Pants for BackpackingI wore a pair of the REI Sahara pants for 16 days on a thru hike of the Tahoe Rim Trail.
I recommend these pants, they performed great.
All the stitching held up and the zippers kept working. I took the legs off and on at least twice a day for 16 days.
I liked the green color b/c it hid the dirt much better than a lighter color.
The cargo pockets are large enough to hold the trail guide I was using. I had a small camera in the pocket as well.

Rated5out of5byBobbi JfromGreat versatile pantI bought these pants for my husband to go on photo excursions. He needed something lightweight for air travel, and quick drying. The zippers are great when needing to put on knee pads under the pants. Comfortable for all day adventure and looks great even if one has to go to dinner in them. They are rugged and hold up to moutain terrain, water, and sun. Also, easy to wash and dry. Great pant.My husband is 6'2", 180#, and he fit into a M fine, but went with the large for a roomier fit. He usually gets 34Long in pants.

Rated4out of5byCycle and HikefromHas been everything that was advertisedI was worried about the workmanship after reading other reviews. I just purchased my second pair after wearing the first pair on several hikes and overnight camping trips. I have also taken them on multiple travel trips and they pack well, dry fast when washed. They have held up very well over the 3 months I have worn them, and thus the purchase of the second pair.

Rated5out of5byHikeNBoardfromSuperPantsI don't think I have ever done a clothing review but I had to chime in on these pants. I picked them up originally for a camping trip. Within a month or two I found myself wearing these every day. I have several different pair now and use them as shorts in the summer and pants in the winter. The waistline supports a ton of variance yet it never feels too tight or too loose. The belt is not that great but I never use it unless I am traveling with a ton of heavy stuff in the pockets. The fit is relaxed and the legs are slightly baggy but that is how I like pants.
They breath very well and dry very fast. I have worn certain pair well over 300 times and not a single stitch is out nor any fabric or edges worn.
The pockets are functional and the small front zipper pocket is great for a credit card, ID, and cash. They are also very proficient at grabbing my cabinet door handles but this is pretty common for most cargo style leg pockets. The back pocket has a nice quality zipper that has very low bulk. If you have a smart device or music player, you can place the device in the leg pocket and close the Velcro flap with the wire in the corner. Then run the phones cable down your shirt and wal-la! Everything is tight and protected.
The one downside to the material is that if you are camping, watch those sparks! They will put a hole in your pants faster than you can react so be careful. You don't light up like a match or anything you just get a small hole in your SuperPants.
The conversion works well and they come apart and back again effortlessly. Color coding rocks!
Amazing job on these REI !

Rated5out of5byaroscafromGreat for hiking and travellingI use these for hiking and for travel and they are excellent in both roles. The material is lightweight, compact, and dries quickly, and the vertical zippers on the lower half of the pant legs make it very quick and easy to switch between shorts and full leg pants.
The only (very minor) complaint would be the material itself. I have a similar pair made by a different company that has outstanding material, which by comparison feels softer and more pliable then the REI pants. That being said, there is nothing wrong with the REI pair. Buy it.
