Comments about REI Kimtah Jacket with eVent Fabric - Women's:
Just returned from a 12-day trip to Japan, where we hiked to the top of Mt. Fuji during its opening weekend, which is also well into Japan's rainy season. Before we left for the 5th station, where most people start to climb, it was pouring rain and in the high 70s. We climbed in dampness and darkness, reaching the highest hut around 9:00 p.m. where the temperatures had dropped to freezing. Throughout this strenuous and steep hike, I never felt cold or the need to vent. The Kimtah jacket kept me dry and comfortable while in the rain; I slept in the jacket and layered underneath and was comfortable, too. At 2:30 a.m. we awoke to hike the rest of the way to the summit where it was freezing cold and blustery. I could have used an extra layer when we reached the top: standing in pitch darkness in very gusty conditions, I was cold though the jacket kept the wind out. This jacket served its purpose throughout my trip and packed well, too.

I love this jacket! Hiked to Snoquera Falls on Saturday. It rained all day, wore this the entire hike. Temperature was low 40s. I just wore a long-sleeve tech t-shirt. I had the hood up most of the time too. I couldn't do that in my old jacket - used to get tooooo warm. I was totally comfotable and totally dry. I did not even have a wet spot in back from my pack! I'm a trek pole user. My arms used to get sweaty in my old jacket, especially in the bend of the elbow. Not this time...my sleeves were completely dry. I am a VERY happy camper. :-)

Comments about REI Kimtah Jacket with eVent Fabric - Women's:
After an exhaustive search of all of REI's rainjackets and one return later, I finally settled on this excellent rain jacket. I think the color deterred me from making it my first choice early on, but I came to realize the fit is better than all the rest (and I tried them ALL). Not too tight under the armpits, and not too tight in the sleeves like other jackets. It's lightweight breathable, has a great hood, and the pockets are in a convenient, accessible spot (except backpackers might prefer them to be higher up so as not to interfere with backpack wasit straps, but I use this for all around use and prefer the pockets low). Most of all, it's comfortable! The fabric isn't stiff, like many other rain jackets, and it hangs really nicely, instead of feeling like you're wearing waterproof cardboard. Plus the inside of the fabric is like a light polyester fabric, not that rubbery laminate type coating. The sleeves are a tad long (I'm 5'2" and 115 lbs) but not enough to be problematic (velcro tabs at wrist tighten sleeves to hold them above my hands). I had to go up from a small to medium just because I want to wear a fleece jacket underneath, but other than that, it's true to size. The blue is more of a turquoise than I would like (I lean more toward periwinkle), but again, not enough to deter me. I highly recommend it for rainy days in at least three seasons, maybe even winter if you add fleece or down underneath. Good for outdoor adventuring or just all around town as an everyday rain jacket. Love it!

Comments about REI Kimtah Jacket with eVent Fabric - Women's:
I just got this jacket, and it seems pretty amazing. I lost my old rain jacket and was looking at soft shells to replace it because I hate how clammy hard shells usually get when I'm sweating, but couldn't find anything that I liked that was fairly waterproof and less than $400. The store was pretty warm when I was trying jackets on, and could feel other hard shells sticking to my bare arms after having them on for about 30 seconds, but not this one - it is truly breathable! After a month of moaning about the rain here in Seattle, I almost want it to rain some more just so I can test it out.
My only complaint is that the edges of the hood (the part that you cinch around your face) are difficult to adjust, and as far as I can figure out require both hands and the jacket to be slightly unzipped. It's really not a big deal, though, since the hood is smaller (not made for a helmet) and fits almost perfectly anyway. Also, it would be nice if the sleeve pocket was a little larger, but also not a big deal.
Oh, and it seems to run a size big. I usually wear a large, but got a medium, which fits well even with a light fleece underneath.

I had to play golf in wet windy conditions and stole this from my partner to wear. Initially when she bought it I was a little put off by the price, but after wearing it for a day I completely think it was worth it! I think I may go back and get one for me too. I could swing my golf club easily, it wasn't bulky and I never got cold. For me this is a must have jacket!

If you are tired of raincoats that don't breathe, this is the one for you. I was skeptical of this event technology, but b/c of REI's return policy I decided to give it a try.
I live in hot, humid, rainy Tennessee. Whenever I have to wear a raincoat anywhere, it has to come off the minute I get in the car or the store, etc. b/c I start sweating. But not the Kimtah. I can leave it on and not burn up. That is the true test of breathability in my experience.
I love this raincoat! Follow the instructions and wash it frequently to keep the breathability. It washes up really nicely.

Love this jacket! I wanted a waterproof jacket that breathes well, but is light enough to wear in the desert in the summer. During monsoon season I need something while walking around town that keeps me dry without causing me to sweat- and this jacket is it! It really breathes and does not feel sticky or clammy inside. Love it!

I can wear this jacket all day in Florida. Its great for cold (30s)in the morning when I have to bike to work and classes. However I don't have to take it off when it gets up to the 70s or 80s in the afternoon. I even plan on wearing the jacket for late night outdoors activities when it could potentially get in the 20s and of course for trekking out of the state as well. A friend of mine had the male version for a trip on the AT. We went after a blizzard had left a 5ft layer of snow and he was fine with just a cold gear shirt on underneath.
