Comments about REI Ultra Light Jacket - Women's:
I wore this jacket in solid rain and fog for a 7 hour hike and water never made it inside the jacket. It's definitely waterproof! It's also a great windbarrier. I'm 5'5" and 130 pounds and it fit me perfectly and was very comfortable. Great jacket!

Comments about REI Ultra Light Jacket - Women's:
I used this jacket during a 3 week backpacking trip in January through the Grand Canyon and the Superstition Wilderness and it served me pretty well (during El Nino storm 2010). Water beaded right off of it except where my pack straps were or where my arms rubbed against my sides. It worked great as a windbreaker, and was breathable while I hiked. This jacket worked well as a windbreaker - I wore a fleece jacket underneath and was plenty warm. HOWEVER, I returned this jacket today and bought a different brand for three reasons: the REI jacket is too short in the torso and sleeves and the hood is not deep enough (my beanie always got wet), or it is but doesn't sit properly. I'm 5'9" 140 lbs and bought the small (not too mention most hats are usually way too big for my head, so an abnormally large head is not the reason the hood didn't fit). The small fit well in the chest with a thick fleece underneath.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Jacket - Women's:
I originally bought this jacket for a trip to the Olympic National Rainforest in Washington. However, it didn't rain once during that trip. The jacket has now come in handy for the monsoon weather and has kept me from getting drenched in a downpour. The price seemed extremely high just for a rain jacket, but in the end it is totally worth it. I wouldn't mind paying the price all over again! It has a lot of pockets and ordering my regular adult tshirt size was perfect. It fits just right and is just loose enough to comfortably fit a warm fleece layer in between and when you don't need the layer it still fits perfectly. The jacket will keep you dry and breathe at the same time. The hood also has an extremely comfortable fit and a brim that will keep water off your face. The hood even stays on in high winds and the jacket works like a windbreaker too.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Jacket - Women's:
I compared various rain jackets from North Face, Marmot, Outdoor Research, and REI, and to my surprise this was the winner. While each of the other jackets had some of the features I wanted, this jacket had them all and was the best-priced as well. I was skeptical that the velcro tab to keep the hood rolled up would work well, but it does! Just roll the hood up neatly and the strap keeps it snugly in place. And the hood is removable. (Surprisingly, on the some of the others jackets the hoods were not even stowable!) Also key for me, trivial at is may seem, is the chest pocket. That's where I prefer to keep lipbalm, tissues, and maybe a granola bar, and I find it extremely helpful to have that pocket so easy to get to, esp. when wearing a heavy pack. None of the other jackets had this pocket. So for the hood tab and the chest pocket, I salute REI for design!! More basically, this jacket fit me perfectly: I am 5'5", 115 lbs and the Small provided enough room to wear over a fleece. (The XS was too small to accommodate a fleece.) Crucially, the hood is long enough to keep the rain out but not so stiff that I feel like a zombie. The rest of the dimensions - length, sleeves, bust, etc. - are proportional and functional (length is just right); the fit is feminine-ish; and the fabric is quiet and not sticky. Others have pointed out the excellent waterproofness, and the light weight. I highly recommend this jacket. GREAT JOB REI!! I will look for REI brand first next time!

Comments about REI Ultra Light Jacket - Women's:
I tried on several of the lightweight jackets at REI and liked the fit, feel, color and pockets best on this brand. However, I also found it fit short. I am 5'10", 140 pounds, and had to buy the XL to accommodate my height. Fortunately this size is not excessively big across the chest. This size feels alright and so far I am a very happy camper with my new jacket.

Very nice jacket for the price. Great on the trail or running around town. Would like to have a 2 way zipper for cycling or sitting in the car. Other than that, I highly recommend the jacket, and just love the REI brand.

Works well in wet windy weather or for layering in colder weather. I've used this all over the world. It packs down small for travel. Kept me warm in 30 degree weather with light snow with a 100gm quarter zip fleece underneath. The hood is big enough to get a warm woolen cap underneath for additional warmth. Kept me warm and dry in windy foggy weather. Draw cords cinch up tight to keep out wind and rain. The chest pocket is handy for keeping subway ticket handy. I also take it with me on day hikes for an additional layer in case the weather changes.

The style and color (light yellow) of this jacket is fabulous except that it is just a bit too short to provide much protection to the legs in moderate to heavy rain. It's fine for light rain, and great for cool, windy days.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Jacket - Women's:
I purchased this jacket for a trip to Italy - I was packing light and wanted a lightweight rain jacket "just in case", but didn't want to sacrifice much space in my carry-on. I tried on a LOT of jackets, and this was the most comfortable, the most stylish, and the best fit - and the only one I looked at that had a removable hood. It packs down very small, and took on an all day downpour in Venice in style! Kept me dry, and looked great. It was a little more than I had expected to spend, but well worth it - no regrets, and I will get lots of use out of it.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Jacket - Women's:
I took this jacket with me on a week long trip to Ireland. It rained, hard, every day. And the wind was nearly unbearable. While the coat wasn't terribly warm, paired over a fleece jacket it kept me absolutely dry and cut down on the wind. It was a great purchase!
