Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
Bought these for my 17 year old son. It started raining on us from the minute we arrived in Yosemite. He changed into them after 2 miles of backpacking, and stayed in them for the remaining 3 days in constant rain/snow. On the second day, we spent hours climbing over rocks, trees, slushy snow and mud - and his polartec pants (underneath) were never damp or wet. I was really impressed with the performance of the pants. As tough as he was on them, they could have ripped (because they are so light) but they held out perfectly. I want a set of women's for myself!

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
Super hot, like wearing plastic sack. I have previously used these for snowy trails and they were fine. They do stow well. They are so hot though, you really need a strong downpoor to justify putting these on. You definitely cannot hike a steep train in these without heatstroke. Since its too hot to keep on all day, it really should have side zips. Kinda wrong material not to have side zips. For me these are useless.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
Quality product from REI. Bought these with my dividend last year because I thought they would be useful. I was right! I wear these even when there isn't poor weather outside. Great pants to just relax in because they are lightweight and comfortable. Also great for chilly days on the bike, for a light ride. Most importantly, these things keep you dry no matter the situation (maybe not underwater, but you get it). Example: Walking on campus on a rainy day and a bus rolls by dousing me with water. Rest of me was soaked but from my waist down was pristine. Get these, they are a great buy.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
I love these lightweight pants! They pack to about the size of a small water bottle even if you don't stuff them into their sack.
The fit is just loose enough to make them comfortable and not binding. If I have a complaint it's that my hikers won't slip easily through the legs -- rubber sole against rubber liner just isn't the slipperiest mating -- but they will fit through with a little coaxing. A log or rock for sitting trail-side really helps, or just put them on over whatever you're going to wear before you head out... and they're really nice to wear around camp for wind/rain/dampness protection (sit where you want without getting your butt wet).
The zipper pockets are deep, down to your thighs, and the leg zippers, which are 12-inches long, have not only rain flaps and hook/loop fasteners, but plastic snaps at the bottom as well -- way cool.
I wear these over my sweat-pants when on my morning walk; they cut the wind and repel the rain... perfect.
These pant are far superior to some of the cheaper pants you can buy that seem to be made of the stuff they make blue tarps out of -- you get what you pay for and REI always comes through with a great, user-tested product.

Finding a pant that fits me right is not easy. I was delighted that these pants fit and they don't droop on me while engaged in outdoor activities. I use these pants for skiing and backpacking. With a pair of long underwear, they keep me quite toasty. These pants are durable, lightweight, waterproof and comfortable. I hope REI doesn't modify or discontinue this product.

Great pair of rain pants. Just hiked the AT from Carvers Gap NC to Roan Mt TN with the first day in the rain the whole way. Wore the pants from trail head to the time I climbed in my sleeping bag and they not only kept me dry, but were comfortable as well.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
I bought these pants and then tried them the following day on a 10-mile hike in the Columbia Gorge. They do live up the their claim of being breathable. Unlike other rain pants that just nullify there intent by causing your legs to become drenched in sweat, these pants were cool and comfortable, even during heavy exertion. The zippers along the sides make them easy to get on and off with boots on. They shed water beautifully and pack down into their own little stuff sack. The perfect addition to your wet weather hiking arsenal.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
These are pretty versatile (3+ season) pants and a great deal for the price. I've used them to climb quite a few peaks in various conditions: from sunny and windy to glissading and snowshoeing they pretty much do it all. Super light, waterproof, and they pack down to almost nothing, which makes it an easy decision to bring them along even on days where you probably won't need them.
Only a few minor problems: 1 - sizing; I normally wear a medium, but was swimming in the medium and had to go with the small so check the sizes first. 2 - Not as wind resistant as I had originally hoped, but then again you probably wouldn't want to use these as winter mountaineering (or ski) pants anyways, 3 - they don't breathe as well as I'd hoped, so go light on the layering underneath them.

I bought these pants, one pair for my wife, one for myself in anticipation of the rains since my wife and I are wintering on the coast of Oregon. The day after their super quick delivery it rained. I ended up both mountain biking and hiking in the pant and stayed totally dry and comfortable. Rain and wind, bring it on, these rain pants do their job!!!!
