Comments about Novara Fiona Women's Bike - 2011:
I had no idea $100 would buy me this much more bike.
My 1-year-old Novara Corsa got stolen last month (my fault; accidentally left it unlocked overnight in an urban back yard) and to replace it I splurged a little on the Fiona.
The verdict? Worth it, 100 times over. The Corsa is fine, but the Fiona is better in every way. Brakes are better, gears change more smoothly, seat more comfortable, I love the handlebar extensions for changing wrist position... Plus I can ride it the 8-mile roundtrip to work in even a (not-too-narrow) pencil skirt. What more does a girl want?
I really do not deserve to have my carelessness rewarded with a nicer bike, but I *am* enjoying it!
As for size: I'm 5'6" inches, probably would have gone with the M in retrospect (I've been bike-commuting for 15 years, so I don't mind bending over some), but the S is fine, too.

Comments about Novara Fiona Women's Bike - 2011:
I repeat, I love this bike! I'm a casual/recreational rider but I live where there are a lot of hills - and this bike handles them nicely. The gear shifting is easy and smooth, the pull on the brakes steady and even, tires offer easy cruising, and the ease of locking out/engaging the front shock is much appreciated. The geometry of the frame makes it so comfortable - my arms and hands appreciate less weight thru them due to the more upright positioning - and I do like the step through womens frame. The seat seems comfortable enough. And, the water bottle holder on the handle bars is actually very convenient.

Comments about Novara Fiona Women's Bike - 2011:
After renting a bike at the beach I decided to upgrade my old bike (21 speed which I hadn't ridden in many years) to a 24 speed to help with the hilly road conditions where I live. I get up the hills, not real fast, and fly down the other side. It handles well and is great fun. I bought a Nantucket basket to carry my water, phone etc. I now have a couple of friends looking at the bike for themselves. I have had the bike for 2 months and put 70 miles on it. I will be 70 next month.

Comments about Novara Fiona Women's Bike - 2011:
This bike is a great ride. Attractive, plenty of smooth shifting gears and versatile hybrid tires. A couple of annoyances keep me from giving it the highest rating. First off, it has no way to mount a bottle cage on the frame without an $8 adapter (from REI) that the techs even had trouble installing on my seat post. Also, love the step through frame but needed to buy a top tube adapter to carry it on my hitch rack.

Comments about Novara Fiona Women's Bike - 2011:
Just moved to this uber-bike-friendly town and needed un velo. I researched online for hybrid bikes, one that could get me from here to there fairly speedily without being too cumbersome if I needed to load it onto a bus/car/the bike rack in the garage, etc. I was indeed swayed by the reviews on the the Fiona here on REI, but after test riding it at the store, I decided it's a great bike. Mind you, this is coming from someone whose last bicycle three years ago was a $99 Huffy from...uh...a "Ghetto" store. And I can't quite give it 5 stars since that is my only point of comparison - I didn't test ride other options after I'd tried this one out. By the way, I'm 5'4 and got the XS since it was already built. The associate said I could probably go up to the small, but this one works out just fine.

Comments about Novara Fiona Women's Bike - 2011:
First ride was a blast! It was the first time in years that I was able to set the pace (including out pacing my 12 and 15 year old boys - I'm 42 and don't exercise). I'd previously had a 24" wheel mountain bike, so this is a far better fit for my typical use.
I did swap the seat from my old bike, so I can't speak to seat comfort. I haven't solved the water bottle problem yet and I have a front basket, so handlebar attachment may not work for me. That is my only real gripe. It would seem there is enough room on the upright that braze ons could have worked there.
I do like the handlebar extensions on longer rides - being able to change position helps keep my hands from becoming numb.
My main use is for a very short 5 min commute. I feel I've spoiled myself a bit with this Fiona which is suited to so much more!

Comments about Novara Fiona Women's Bike - 2011:
I bought Fiona last month. I then put a rear rack, panniers and a rack bag on it and took it to France. We rode 232 miles in 6 days along roads and it was PERFECT! It was light, handled well, carried my packs fine. It could not have been better. It was my first nice bike and I was amazed with the shifting, the brakes and the front suspension. I was worried the tires would be too narrow, but they handled well on all surfaces.
I bought a kit at REI to mount the water bottle on the handlebars. I did not find the seat uncomfortable.
It does not have a bell integrated in the brake level as the specs state, but I added one.
I am a 60 yr old non-athlete and I was able to get my bike up and down train station stairs and escalators because it was so light.
The step through design is perfect for me. I have hip arthritis and normally have to lay a bike down to get on it, but this design was a dream.
It was easy to take apart and put together for travel.
I could not be happier with this bike. I think it is a very good value for the price. On top of all of the great function, it is really attractive.
I rode it 10 miles without panniers for the first time last week and I felt like I was flying!!

I love my bike; this bike had everything I was looking for, except a water bottle holder. I purchased an aftermarket water bottle holder, which mounts on my handle bars. I find the seat comfortable, however others do not. The gears shift very fast and smooth. The front shocks lock easily for climbing hills and unlock for a very comfortable ride on streets.
I road several road & hybrid bikes prior to purchasing this bike, I knew I loved this bike after only a 5 minute test ride.

Comments about Novara Fiona Women's Bike - 2011:
I bought the Novara Fiona in March of this year, and it is my first serious bike. "I love this bike"! I use the bike for casual, recreation, and fitness rides. The flat handlebars and upright riding position takes the pressure off my back, and the step through makes it easy to get on and off the bike. It is lightweight, so I can mount easily it onto the bike rack. Just as important, though, it is a "beautiful" bike, and I get lots of compliments on its looks from other riders. Just thinking about the bike makes me want to go for a bike ride when I leave work.
