The Novara Divano delivers comfort, quality and sportiness in a road bike that's great for your first century, commuting or just getting out there and riding for fun.

  • 6061 aluminum frame is strong and fatigue resistant; sport geometry sets you more upright than race geometry, enhancing long-ride comfort
  • Kinesis carbon fork delivers solid steering and damps minor road vibrations, reducing harsh shockwaves traveling through hands, arms, shoulders and back
  • FSA Vero triple crankset features lightweight and durable cold-forged aluminum arms; ramped and pinned chainrings give crisp shifting and years of solid use
  • Triple chainrings let you storm hills, rocket descents and race flats; 9-cog rear cassette dials in resistance for cadence, wind or slope changes
  • Shimano Sora shifters and derailleurs are light and responsive and deliver the reliability you expect from Shimano components
  • Shimano long-reach brakes enhance tire clearance and accommodate fenders easily (fenders sold separately)
  • Features low-resistance Vittoria Zaffiro tires mounted on lightweight, smooth-handling Alex DA-22 rims
  • Elegant San Marco Ischia saddle is contoured and padded to support sit bones through long training rides
  • Platform pedals with toe cages let you wear everyday shoes while keeping feet secure on the pedals
  • Specs are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2010:

What happened to the Novara Divano? It used to be a great introductory model. Now it's become cheap and unreliable. I owned a 2006 Divano that came with full shimano tiagra components, ritchey stem and seatpost, tusk carbon fork, and shimano wheels. Now, every component of this bike has been down-graded. What a shame. Save your money and buy a cannondale or scott

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2010:

I have the 2009 version of this bike, and after putting 1000 miles on it I figured it was time for a review. In short, I love it. It's not perfect - mine isn't fond of shifting from the middle to highest chainring even after several tune-ups [...] and I broke a pedal after about 40 miles of riding, but it is comfortable, relatively quick, and I feel like the component package on it (mostly Tiagra, which seems to have changed) was a deal for the price. I have a Cannondale Road Warrior also that was more expensive, but I like my Divano much better. It is also beautiful in red.

    Service and delivery comments:

Tune-ups from REI haven't been as good as I would like. I am taking it to another bike shop for the next one to see if the moderately reluctant shifting of the front chainring is a bike issue or a service one. I believe it's the latter.

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2010:

I just purchased this bike and I am really impressed with it so far. This bike is just as good as a high end bike with the exception of the components. I use this bike to train with and it handles real well. You might want to change the pedals. This is a real good investment for the price. I also have the all carbon Novara and this bike handles just as good.

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2010:

I bought this bike about 3 years ago because I had a GT commuter bike and my buddy had this one and I could never keep up. I finally made the purchase and have fallen deeply in love with my Divano. I treat her right and she never has any problems. It's a rugged bike, I've crashed her several times and taught myself how to tune on her. The only problem I've ever had is when I first got her they didn't do a good job tuning her and she had all kinds of gear changing problems but a shop along the Burk-Gilman in the U-district fixed it up in about 5 minutes for free and it's been perfect ever since. She's fast as hell and a great deal. I take her on serious rides and she performs great, I can outride half the people out there riding their much more expensive bikes. I took her on the Seattle to Portland ride and she held up great. Bottom line this bike can do it all and I have never had a problem with it. I should mention though that since I bought it i think they downgraded the Tiagra shifters to Sora so I can't comment on that.

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2010:

This has been a good bike in the past but not worth the price. The components were much better 3 years ago on this model and cheaper too. I don't understand why this bike is more expencive for a lower quality bike than it once was. The gears are too poor for anyone who would like to get into cycling and it will only make them want to get a better one or upgrade components soon after or because of the bike decide they don't like cycling BUT I HOPE NOT! I would compare your options before buying this bike.

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2010:

OK here goes, my first review ever and I feel I have to do this! I bought my Divano on Sept 2, 2011. I have been riding my hybrid on the road now for a long time and friends told me I had to get a road bike but I did not want to spend the money. Well REI had their big Labor Day sell and I ended up w/ a bike. The first day I rode it noticed it did not want to shift up to big sprocket(not sure what u call it) [...]So anyways I have the style bike again will try it if I still have same shifting issues I will return and start lookin all over again for a good road bike!! I think the bike is good but it is my first road bike so wat do I know. I do know I am makin my loops so much faster on a road bike verses a hybrid. And will continue to have a road bike!!!!

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2010:

I am 220 lbs, 5'5, and the Divano (size S) is my first road bike.

It handles decently. It shifts decently. It takes abuse. I am heavy, novice, and in the LA area, so I've given it some punishment. I've wiped out and I have hit many bumps I didn't see in time. I have put 2000 miles on this bike now. Not a single flat, 1 bent spoke (stick got into wheel).

People complain about the components, but its a decent combo and very usable if you keep everything clean and adjusted. I appreciate the balance between sturdiness over cost / components. If you want the lightest fastest bike, this isn't for you, but if you want sturdy and reliable, kinda light drop bar that gets the job done, then get this bike.

        I love it.

I ride for exercise. This is the fastest bike I've owned. I wish the gears shifted a little bit more smoothly and with less noise. Otherwise a nice buy.

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2010:

This is my first road bike and I bought it in March 2011. I upgraded my pedals to a set of titanium Shimano road racing pedals. Upgrading the pedals and shoes is a necessity for hills and long rides.

Most of my rides so far have been 8-15 miles, but I've done several 30 mile rides. This bike has been a great introductory road bike and the only complaints I've had have been some clicking with certain gear selections and some problems with shifters. A friend recently helped replace a shifter cable, and that has helped a lot. Well worth the money; perhaps someday I'll upgrade to a more expensive bike but this has been a great starter.

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2010:

After a few years of owning a hybrid, I really wasn't enjoying my rides like I did when I was a kid. A friend lent me his new road bike and it only took a few blocks to get the old feel back again. I knew I needed a road bike. Not having a lot of bucks burn, I went shopping a for great value in a road bike. Long story short, right at the end of summer I bought a new Divano. It's true, there are smoother, faster, lighter bikes for a lot more money, but this one's just right for me. After about 100 miles and with a little finesse, it shifts through all 27 speeds, smooth as can be. Compared to all the other bikes I've ridden over the years, this one is fast, handles nicely and has a really hard seat.

I really like my Divano, and as soon as winter eases up a bit, I'll be upgrading my seat and riding my bike!
