Comments about REI CoolMax EcoMade Crew Socks:
I'm on my feet a lot for work and play and these socks have never let me down. They offer me great support and help me stay on my feet all day and night. I wear these for work, hiking, sports and daily wear. Very durable and hold their shape and elasticity unlike any sock I've owned. I only wish these were available in black.

Comments about REI CoolMax EcoMade Crew Socks:
Just finished a 2 week trip with lots of long day-hiking hours. Used these and a pair of smartwool Ph.D. I wore Patagonia low trail shoes. These have a slight edge over the Ph.D.'s because the padding seemed a little thinner with these socks and my toes were less cramped and because these cost less. My complaint is that the sock bunched a little around my outer small toes. In a perfect world socks would be made for left and right feet given that our small toes are shorter than the big toe.

Comments about REI CoolMax EcoMade Crew Socks:
These socks are quite slippery on the outside and they tend to slide around within my shoes unless I lace them up very tightly. They're also wearing out faster than any other sock I've ever used. After just a few uses there are already noticeable chafe marks on the outside.
I hike mostly in a warm climate, and I bought these socks because of their high CoolMax content and their implied coolness and breathability. I thought they would be a good match for my highly breathable shoes (Merrell Moab Ventilators). However, after comparison testing it turns out that their breathability is nothing special. For testing purposes I took several brisk walks with a different type of sock on each foot. I was surprised to discover that my lightweight (but slightly thicker) 70% merino wool socks did a noticeably better job of keeping my feet dry. They also didn't slide around in my shoes at all. Temperature-wise, both socks felt about the same.

I'm an RN. On my feet all day. These felt cushy and have not made my feet hot. My feet do sweat when hot. No problem staying put on my skinny legs. These were a great find!

Comments about REI CoolMax EcoMade Crew Socks:
I like the comfort and breathability of this sock. It is very supportive for my toes and balls of my feet. It washes well and is durable.
Suggestions: Please offer this sock in black, dark brown, and navy. Then I could wear it with my dark clothing and at work with my casual shoes!

Comments about REI CoolMax EcoMade Crew Socks:
Feel softer than the original, which was made with corn(???)or something. But, even washing inside-out, in cold water, and line drying they are very tight and seem to get tighter over time. After buying a pair in my usual large size, I went up to x-large. Still tight. The stretch panel across the instep takes getting used-to. Looks like a good idea, but doesn't really work.

Comments about REI CoolMax EcoMade Crew Socks:
I used to hate wearing socks in general. Depending on the day of week and whether or not these socks are clean, I hate wearing [other] socks.
Honestly, I'm surprised I'm reviewing socks.
These socks are cool, have held up better than a pair of [intelligent] and more expensive socks, and dry quickly.
---Suggestion for REI---
Expand your selection to support my feet when I'm suited up and hiking the conference exhibition floors. We need some solid tans, browns, blacks, etc. Check out the standard Dock-work-ers colors and replicate with PET.
If these were in business friendly colors, I'd buy them instantly. Usually, my business socks wear out- not necessarily holes in the mesh sock structure, but the softer 'filling' fuzz starts to disappear.
Aside from being great socks- I would like the opportunity to recycle the PET when I'm done.
