Comments about The North Face Paramount Peak Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
Loved previous style . Great for early golf , zip legs off when warmer . New front pockets are too small , vertical design restricts access . I prefer belt on outside , do not use " hidden " belt that comes with pants . Need to add belt loop to left front . Have reccomended these to many others , will point out disappointment with new style now .

Comments about The North Face Paramount Peak Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
I've used these pants for days hikes for the past couple years, and have not been disappointed at all. They're comfortable, dry out pretty fast, and are light weight. They are also durable, I've taken a few tumbles and have had to climb over fallen trees. All of this has not done any damage to the pants. Being able to unzip them into shorts on a few occasions has been a nice feature when the temps start to rise on the trails. I also love all the pockets and especially the small zippered pocket up on the waist which makes a great place to securely store my keys. Great item!

Comments about The North Face Paramount Peak Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
I was impressed with the quality of these pants right away. The previous NF convertables were very lightweight which was a plus, however the material always snagged. They are a heavier material and wont pack as small as the previous, but def worth it. These have held up over many backcountry trips in RMNP, GNP and in Oregon, in pretty much any condition you can imagine. In light rain they will not soak wet, so there is some water resistance to the fabric. I love all the pockets, and I am curious as to why the other review says the zipper pocket is worthless? I use it frequently. I am going to purchase a few more pair of these for the future. You never know how the manufacturer changes its lines season to season. NF did a good job this time around in my opinion.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Peak Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
I went with the convertible for the multi-functionality to trim some pack weight and to react to weather and terrain. These are so great though I end up wearing them around the house all the time.
The only reason they didn't get 5 stars was because the pant legs don't slide off over my hiking boots (size 12). They work over my trail runners though, just a pain to take boots off midhike. The pockets are great and the material can take a beating compared to some other lighter pants I tried. You could bushwack in these and not ruin them or get badly scratched. All pockets are mesh to help with ventilation and breathability. Very solid.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Peak Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
THESE PANTS ARE AWESOME. They have everything I want.I bought the grey ones and I love how they feel, how they look (the dark color hides the zipper part well), and especially the hidden zipper pocket. They also feel highly durable yet light at the same time. After trying on some expensive traveling pants (royal robbins, etc) and other convertibles, I almost started to accept that travelling pants would not fit me well. These are great. I can wear them casually and they don't look out of place.
BUT OH LOOK. THEY BECOME SWIM TRUNKS! They dry fast enough that I use them for swimming.
These pants also have the ankle zippers so you don't have to take off your shoe; furthermore, there is a red tag to mark the right pant leg from the left one.
I feel that the one star review is harsh; just because the older model may be better doesn't mean that these aren't a great pair.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Peak Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
I do volunteer work at a hospital. These pants are dressy enough to wear to the hospital. The pants are extremely comfortable. The ability to convert these into shorts means I don't have to buy two spearate pieces of clothing, so I get a lot more use out of one purchase.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Peak Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
Generally a good idea but several issues. Firstly the material in the seat is abrading, after only a few days of use. Secondly it's necessary to take off hiking boots to remove the leg sections. Lastly I find the fly zipper doesn't come down low enough.
On the plus side, I find them light in weight, they dry fast but provide decent protection against moderate wind and precipitation.

Very durable material that sheds water and breaths well. Pockets are well placed. Kept me cool during the day, and warm at night. Very happy with them.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Peak Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
These pants are awful. The "abrasion-resistant fabric" wore through in ONE WEEKEND of serious climbing/hiking in the White Mountains. Also the stitching on an entire side of one of the rear pockets disintegrated. I was climbing a steep trail that required a bit of butt-sliding coming down, and these pants held up much worse than pants I paid half this price for and put through similar torture. I will probably send them back to North Face.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Peak Convertible Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam:
I work outdoors everyday in the bush for up to 10 hours a day and I can wear these multiple days in a row. I've maneuvered through thorn thickets all day and these never break a stitch! Comfortable for casual wear too. Not very breathable. I double them as swimming trunks and they dry in 10 minutes.
