          I have a Gerber Shortcut that I have been using for several years now. I take it everywhere with me and have been very happy with it. The quality was quite good, at least as good as the comparable Leatherman mini-multitools, but signifcantly cheaper. Unfortunately, someone used the scissors for something they shouldn't have and they started working poorly. I was recently home in the US (I live overseas) and decided to replace the Shortcut with the Gerber Splice. I found that while the choice of tools was comparable to the Shortcut, the level of quality was significantly less. It feels like one of the cheap knock-off multitools. Also, while I appreciated the placement of the flat Philips-head screwdriver (at the end away from the key chain so that it can be used without having to take it off the keychain), I was disappointed with where the two blades were located -- pointing towards the keys. Did the designers actually try to use the tool?

          I have not used the tool long enough to know how well it will hold up in comparison to the Shortcut, but my guess is not as well.

            Poor quality control or poor manufacturing... Scissors fell apart within the first couple of uses. While larger and heavier, I've been much happier with leatherman juice series.

              I bought this knife a month ago and have liked it for its small size. Convenient to carry in your pocket to have tools on hand. Unfortunately last night I opened 3 bottles of beer (not all for me) and on the fourth one part of the bottle opener actually broke off. I thought my friend was joking until he handed me my knife back in 2 parts. Not sure how the rest of the knife will hold up now so i will be trading it in for the leatherman squirt S4.
