I really like the fit and feel of these pants. They are thick yet comfortable. Great pants for working outside during the spring and fall, and with some thermals, during the winter.
As a bonus feature, the seem to not pick up dog hair as much as denim does!
The sizing was/is an issue for me. I normally wear about a 33-34 waist, but needed a 36 in these for comfort. They DID shrink, perhaps half a size, but that worked because 36 might have been 1/2 to 1 size too big. The 36 might be loose, but I always wear a belt, so it isn't an issue.
I have the brown pants, and the dye seems fine (as opposed to my Rebel pants that are bleeding).
Additionally, an earlier review mentioned the fly; on the Rydr pants the fly is standard, like any pair of zipper denim pants. The Rebel pants have the inner flap, similar to a pair of suit pants. Only the flap has a small radius extending down, that renders the fly useless short of a full unbutton.

These are really nice pants. Super well made. Durable. Very comfortable. The fit and comfort are excellent. They look great too. My only complaint is that when I washed a brown pair in cold water, as instructed, the dye totally steaked,ran, blotched etc. THE KEY IS TO WASH THESE PANTS INSIDE OUT, IN COLD WATER. Kuhl was cool and acknowledged this issue with dark colored pants. Wash them in cold water inside out and you should be good to go.

The inside flap that buttons across the fly area is so large that it prevents use of the fly! One has to unbuckle the belt, unsnap and unbutton the pant and zipper to take a P! The pockets are also too shallow and change and phone fall out while sitting. These pants are not practical but they look nice and I like the pleats at the knees.

I bought one pair before leaving to Honduras and I found myself wearing them everyday. They're lightweight, dry quickly, are easy to clean by hand, and are surprisingly durable. I ended up buying two more pairs in different colors, and now they're basically the only pants I wear. Best of all they are really breathable, so they help to keep you cool, even when it's humid out. I use these pants for traveling, hiking, and casual.
The only down side is that the darker brown does seem to fade faster after washing, so go with the lighter colors if possible.

A pant so good, so durable, so well fitting that it has replaced Levis and a myriad of outdoor brand cotton canvas pants (Mtn. Hardwear, Mtn. Khakis, TNF, etc.). I never imagined pants to be so comfortable - everywhere below the waist. I heard of the color streaking with the browns, so I only have khakis. I've worn one pair at least 3 times a week 6 months of the year (too heavy for warm months). They've faded but still look grand. The cuffs are just now starting to fray a bit. I now have 2 more pair. If REI had 10% off like they do with socks, I'd buy more!

These pants looked good on the rack but it was all downhill from there. The fabric actually got stiffer and stiffer with washings! They look like you slept on the sofa for a week in these. The cuffs began to fray after only 6-8 wearings.The color faded in very unattractive ways. They appear to be well made but are in fact very poorly made. The stitching in unraveling at the seams. The fly is useless as well.

Very comfortable and durable pants. Has a little higher rise than most pants. Pant legs are big enough to go over heavy hiking boots. Articulated knees and gusseted crotch makes pants very comfortable when sitting. Takes a few washings to soften up the fabric. The dye washes out leaving lighter color marks all over the fabric. This isn't very noticeable on the khaki color, but it is on the brown color so beware. I bought two pairs and am thinking about a third.

This is the first pair of pants I have bought at REI in a while - most of their pants are either skinny leg or super baggy, and sizing isn't consistent on many brands. I had one pair of Kuhl pants that are so baggy I don't wear them anymore, but these have a much more flattering fit. They are comfortably fitted through the waist and hips (and run a little smaller than sized, I wear a 33 and 34 fit me well), and are relaxed but not baggy through the legs. I've worn them to work, and the gussetted legs are a little too "stylish" for an office environment, but they are perfect for running around town or a weekend in the woods.

My friend had a pair of the crag series and I admired them, so my girlfriend bought me a pair of the Ryders. The pants have a great style, and are roomy and tough. I like the cell phone pocket, as it keeps my pockets free as when I use these pants I am often bending and sitting to make camp or move about... I use them camping a lot, cause they are warm enough for nights and mornings and hold up to dirt and hiking in the woods. I know I can wear them for a couple of days, come out of the woods and not need to change if I want to go into town for supplies cause they look like a cool casual pant. I guess that is what I liked about them first was they look great for a casual pant, and like they will be a good practical outdoor pant, and they have proved to be. I will definitely buy another pair in a different color. They fit me well in the waist, I would say they are true to size, but the length was a bit long, so I roll them up if I need to depending on if I wear sandals or shoes.
