The rugged REI Acme pants provide a great microclimate for outdoor sports that are strenuous and movement intensive.

  • Acme thrives in nearly all conditions except for high heat and humidity; think trekking, mountain biking, mountaineering and backcountry skiing and packing
  • Schoeller® Dryskin fabric offers excellent breathability, minimizing sweaty buildup during sustained vigorous activity
  • It also provides great water and abrasion resistance and 4-way stretch comfort; windproof to 16 mph
  • Zip fly, button front and belt loops let pants double as urban wear; they go easily from trail to table
  • Crotch gusset and articulated knees ensure easy movement; double stitching increase durability
  • Gusseted ankle zippers let pants slide over footwear; rip-and-stick tabs adjust cuffs
  • Welded zippers on hand and thigh pockets; 2 rear zip pockets

    I have had many hiking clothes over the years but no pants have ever been this GREAT. They are tough, rain and wind resistant, and allow a full range of motion without chaffing, rubbing, or snagging. They seem to run a little trim so if you are a 32 - you may want a 34 waist.

      Got a pair of these a few weeks ago. Wore them first on an overnight backpack in October. They blocked the wind, breathed well so I didn't steam up on steep climbs, and felt tough enough that I wasn't afraid to kneel in the dirt to get the fire going. And the microfleece waist lining is heavenly under a backpack hipbelt. Then I took them on a 3 day bike trail ride in Northern Idaho. I wore them, with bike underwear, on the first day, which was a breezy downhill in cool misty weather. Again, they were perfect - didn't bind or get clammy, blocked the wind, and were very comfortable. These are my new favorite pants.
