I was looking for a good jacket that I could use on its own during cooler fall weather, and then layer under a heavier jacket once it got really cold. I think this is it! It's a perfect fit over a thin sweater or midweight long-sleeve shirt (and ladies, it doesn't squish your chest - hooray!). The windproof factor is crucial for when I wear it solo. I already tried it under my winter jacket, and it layers with no problem. I'm 5'6", and I found that the sleeves fit perfectly, and the bottom hem hits right where I want around my hips.

I've had this jacket for a little under a year. I use it for layering under my parka for very cold conditions, or by itself when it's mild but a jacket is warranted. It's also a perfect travel companion. You can squish, stuff it, and smash it, and it always looks great! No wrinkles! I love the wind- and weather-resistant feature. I also really like the deep inside pockets for stashing stuff. I know that fleece jackets don't typically come with hoods, but that is the one feature I would want to add.

I tried on a similar North Face fleece and it was much more expensive and was not as comfortable because it was a slimmer cut. The REI Fleece is the perfect layering piece. I use it under my shell for skiing and under my winter coat on colder days. It also looks great on it's own and keeps me warm on cooler days. This jacket is very flattering and I think it would compliment a variety of sizes. I think it would be nice to have a napoleon pocket on the left chest area - then I would give this jacket 5 stars! Why do guys always get the extra pockets on their jackets?!! What I love about the REI brand is the brand isn't plastered all over the jacket, but in a discreet place - visible for those who are interested (I know because I see a lot of nice looking REI jackets out there and I'm able to locate the REI logo every time). If you are looking for a great all around multi-purpose jacket - you will be pleased with this jacket!

This is a great jacket that keeps the wind out and keeps you warm. The inner pockets are extremely convenient for storing personal items - I often tucked my medium sized camera in the pocket while hiking. The arms were a bit long for me, but that's the only drawback I found to this product.

I was reluctant to try this jacket as a replacement for my North Face Windwall, but am so glad I did! The fabric is much nicer than the North Face; softer, drapes, and doesn't look nearly as 'adventuresome' to wear around the city. It packs light and squishes easily into a backpack. I have used it now in cold weather (Brussels) but also in cooler temps (Hanoi). Very versatile and layers easily over a sweater or just a t-shirt.

I love this jacket! It's warmer than the traditional fleece jacket and feels more durable too. But, as a shorter gal I love the fact that the wrists are easily adjusted with the velcro strap.

I wanted to get a replacement to my 4 year old North Face fleece jacket, went to REI to try on a few jackets. I'm 5'4 and close to 180lbs, so it's hard to find something not too bulky that fits me right around chest and around belly area. Although I love North Face, the jacket I tried on felt I couldn't move freely in it. This one from REI felt much more comfortable and the price was less. Here in Houston we don't need heavy jackets for the most part so this jacket is great.

It is light, easy to fold together and take along.
It is keeping wind and drizzle from cooling of the body if weather changes during a hiking tour.
There is no bad weather for outdoor fun, there is always just the right clothing you have to choose.
