this little guy works great for solo and small groups on weekend car camping or weekend fishing trips. i use mine at basecamp to do everythign from making pancakes and coffee in the morning, to grilling burgers, brats, steaks and veggies in the evening. that lid doubling as a wok helps to create great in camp stir fry, too. heating time is above average in speed. season the entire system by washing it thoroughly first then running it at home a few times with oil on each cooking surface and allowing the burner to break in. if you have a large volume kayak, canoe, or raft, this might be a good alternative to other grills/stoves. my biggest complaints are that it is noisy when in use, and the storage / transportation bag could be a bit tighter to stop the clanging, and the bag could benefit from a fuel bottle storage pocket, too. other than that, grab one of these and enjoy it's versatility.

Comments about Cadac Safari Chef Grill:
It sounded like such a great idea. After cooking on it during a two-week camping trip, I'm ready to throw it away. It is horribly messy to clean. Even after scrubbing and scrubbing, and soaking and soaking, the grill surface will never be clean. Don't dry it with a dish towel you care about keeping--it will just turn black. The main burning element and the drip pan are just as bad. I cut myself several times on the sharp edges while trying to clean the drip pan. Also, the first time it went into the trunk with the camping gear, it came out with a big dent and the drip pan has a place where the coating is chipping off. The handy carrying case doesn't do a thing to protect the parts inside. It comes packed in lots of cardboard and bubble wrap. Plan on keeping that and using it to pack up every time you use it!

I took this both camping & tailgating this month. It fires up in seconds; can grill dogs and burgers - or eggs & bacon. It has 5 different surfaces and a neat carry bag. The whole things folds up into the b ag and weighs like 8 pounds. I still have plenty of gas in the canister - and people kept coming up to me asking about it. It really is a great grill.
