Comments about Raleigh Detour 4.5 Bike - 2009:
Like the majority of people out there I wanted a comfortable bike that I could use everyday, for every occasion. Like most people, I have no interest keeping pace with 'Lance' or screaming down a mountain side at full speed. All I wanted was a good, solid, reliable form of transportation that wasn't short of fun.
Found it!
After researching a ton of reviews and test riding a dozen bikes I kept coming back to the Raleigh Detour 4.5. This is a great bike. The components were as good (or better) than most other bikes within the same price range and in two cases, the Raleigh components were better than two bikes costing $125 more.
The ride is comfortable, upright, and smooth. Gear shifting is easy with the trigger shifters and with 24 gears you will never have an issue with the terrain. The brakes are fantastic and the saddle is more that comfortable for an average rider. Right now I'm putting 20 miles a week on the bike and I have no complaints what so ever. I find myself using the bike for just about everything. From commuting around town, taking the kids to the park, or running errands. Often, I find myself reaching for the helmet and not the keys.
So if you're like me and have had that uncomfortable mountain bike hanging in the garage for over a year, sell it!
Your local bike shop will have some awesome hybrids to get you back on the road again.
