Comments about Raleigh One Way Bike - 2009:
As a disclaimer I must note that I own last year's model of the One Way. The only changes for 2009 include forward facing drop outs, a bell, and an awesome Lezyne pump (Which I bought aftermarket).
I bought my One Way as my winter bike because it was an affordable single speed with cantilever brakes. I've begun to enjoy it so much it has become my go to bike for everything but long rides, hills and racing.
In my search I also considered the Bianchi San Jose, On One Pampino and IRO Rob Roy, but decided to get the One Way on grounds of sheer class and quality. I found the machining and finish of the track ends on the One Way better than the San Jose. I found the On One and the Rob Roy hard to find and get decent information on.
The One Way is beautiful and performs well. The Brooks saddle and tape and now the Lezyne pump make for excellent high quality specs. That being said, if you are a racer, you will notice that this frame is heavy. You will also notice that this bike has low trail, making it very stable for cruising and commuting but not ideal for racing. If you shoulder your bikes a lot you may also not like the rear brake cable routing under the top tube.
I have other bikes in my stable, but am smitten by this bikes handling and appeal. I like that I have fenders which can be removed, I like the bullet proof nature of the tires it comes with and the simplicity of this bike.
While this bike is a single speed, you can always upgrade to an internally geared hub for the rear (Similar to the San Jos8).

Comments about Raleigh One Way Bike - 2009:
Love this bike and couldn't be happier with choice. I've had it for 1 month and commute 32 miles 1 way on a rail trail, 3-4 times a week. 42x16 gear combo works great, good on flats and able to tackle medium/short hard hills by coming out of the saddle. Overall I'm able to maintain a 16-19 mph average. Brooks B17 saddle is flawless--fits like a glove. Tires are solid and roll smoothly, while dampening road vibration. Although not a light weight it's decent for steel--which rides better than aluminum. The brakes are the only flaw, even after replacing the stock pads I find the braking weak, or it could be I'm used to MTB Hydros. But stopping is a bit challenging in emergencies. Very comfortable to ride and just a lot of fun charging past multi-gear riders on hills.
