Comments about GSI Bugaboo Camper Cookset:
Before getting this beast of a 4 person set, I actually read all of these previous reviews. Including the first that mentioned melting of the lid. The set itself looked too good for my needs to let that bother me, so I got it anyways.Well, I should have heeded the warning. I used it for the first time over this Memorial Day weekend, and sure enough the large plastic lid melted while I was boiling water. It melted right into the pot because I wasn't watching it. (A watched pot never boils). I couldn't believe it, and I was so disappointed. [...] The pots are fantastic though, but if you can't cover them to keep your food warm, then you lose a lot of functionality. When it comes down to it...plastic and heat/cooking just do NOT mix. Had the lid maybe rimmed with high-heat silicone or something that may have proved better. Or, what ever happened to just making the lids as usable fry-pans?The nested cups and bowls are great, everything about this set is good but the lids. Your lids may not melt the first time or the 10th time, but gradually with that constant exposure to heat they will begin to deform. So I can't recommend this set, as good as the pots are, you need something else to cover them. My hunt for a new cookware set continues.

Comments about GSI Bugaboo Camper Cookset:
We have the two person set and love it. It's been great for backpacking when there are only the two of us. When we found the four person we thought wow.
During the third meal we were cooking using the big pot on an LP gas stove one of the lids melted to the pot. We were very disappointed and returned it to REI and purchased a different brand. The plastic used for the larger set is different than what's used for the two person.

Comments about GSI Bugaboo Camper Cookset:
I took this kit in an airplane for a 2-week trip with the family. It transports extremely well.
No problems with lids melting or deforming. When full of water, the big pan is stable on a Superfly backpaker's stove. However, you cannot stow the Superfly in the kit.
Second caveat: DO NOT use dairy AT ALL in the cups. I put milk in the kids' oatmeal, and the plastic held a sour milk smell until I got back home and put the cups, bowls and neoprene jackets in the dishwasher. I could not get rid of the smell in the field. Simple workaround: use rice/soy/almond milk instead!
Otherwise, cleanup is really easy on this equipment. The kids love picking different colors for each meal. Sip-lids prevent any crying over spilt (soy)milk.
The pans distribute heat well and the strainer lids work very well. Do be careful that the handle engages all the way before lifting! This kit is fun to use.

We used this set over the Memorial Day weekend and loved it. I *really* like the cups as they are insulated so it kept my coffee & Baileys toasty ;-) The outside of the cup comes off and there's a removable neoprene wrap around the inner cup, so you actually get eight cups with four of them insulated if you need to push things. The sippy lids are nice and stay locked but they don't completely seal so contents can splash out if using them while driving on bumpy terrain.
The folding handle easily locks in place and can be used from pot to pot as needed. It's stored in one of the cups. As can be seen in the picture, we used the frying pan for making pancakes then put them in the smaller pot to keep warm until breakfast was ready. The aluminum is not flimsy, is light of course, and the non-stick surface works as well as any home non-stick pots.
My only complaint -- and it is a very minor one -- is that the plates aren't sectioned. It would be nice to have a separator to keep some foods separate from each other.
This is a compact, light set that works great for car camping and I would think backpacking as well.

Comments about GSI Bugaboo Camper Cookset:
I haven't used this exact set, but my sister-in-law got a bugaboo pot and pan set a few years back and hadn't used it until our last camping trip. It is compact, has many uses, the non-stick works really really well, and it's super lightweight, yet acts like a heavy, really good pan set.
It does only come with one handle, but extra handles are purchasable for just a couple bucks. Totally worth it whether you're doing a big camping trip, or if you're doing an overnight backpacking trip. I'm excited about this specific set. The cups seem to be of really good quality, and I love how it all fits together.
I think I'm going to have to buy myself this set! It looks amazing! Way to go Bugaboo!

LOVE IT!!!! It does not take up much space. The pots and pan are very nice quality, it is better then the set I use at home. The cups are nice for coffee. The lids stick when you put it on with liquid inside. The handles are very easy to use. But the down side is that they only come with one. It would be nice if you could buy another handle. I would buy this product again!!!!!

Spent 4 nights backpacking with kids and this was just what we needed. We had a large group and we each brought our own sets. Used it with a JetBoil and the pot stand and it worked like a charm. No problems with the lids melting but I mind my flame and never leave the stove unattended, because we have kids running around. We easily made enough food for our party of 4 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 kids. We just need the plates, cups and bowls from the other set.
It was heavy to haul but with growing kids who can eat a lot, you need to be able to make large meals and this fit the bill. Love that the lid is also a strainer. Poured the boiling hot pasta water into one of the carriers then filtered it for washing the dishes!
Nice to be able to replace our old kit with something so compact. Love it.

Used this for a week long trip with kids and it worked great. Read reviews about the melting lids and was mindful of the heat setting and they worked great for every meal.

Comments about GSI Bugaboo Camper Cookset:
We're a family of five and we've locally backpacked and often flown and used a rental car to car camp as well--so two years ago I found this neat set up and it's worked wonders for our use. Everyone gets to pick a color (and I don't think REI carries them but GSI makes matching sliding sporks that will fit inside the cups which we picked up later--you can see them with some of the other GSI cooksets). We try and pack a bit extra inside--I've managed to add a fifth place setting by sticking in a collapsible bowl on top of the plates and adding an extra folding spork inside a cup. (I stick little mini plastic knives in between the cups). I also get a folding cup inside one of the cups along with an MSR pack towel inside another for clean ups. So together it's a really nice unit in one package. I've actually found the plastic lids quite durable--the frying pan has warped a bit so it's not flat any more (thin aluminum)--but that's been my only quibble in the three seasons we've used it.
We still have a bit more space in the cups--so I plan on finding a little soap container and placing it along with a small sponge and a plastic pot scraper and matches in their next time so it's a completely self contained cooking system! (I stick a thin knife/spatula combo under the top cinch strap)

Love how this set nests so well even with other stuff in it.
Hadn't had any problems with the lids like others have but we accidentally melted the plate slightly when we touched a pan to it.
The only thing that I don't like is that the handle folds easily and can cause some problems when lifting pots. It also can get quite warm. We solved this by cutting an old wash cloth in half, adding snaps so it wraps around the handle and sewing in popsicle sticks. This helps keep the handle from getting hot and bending. We use this cloth as a dish cloth.
