The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Life Gear Glow Stick with Whistle:
All hikers and campers should have this...period. The whistle got me here to tell about last weekend when I met a bear cub and a bigger bear at the same time. The bright top was all I saw in the backpack and was easy to retrieve in a potentially bad moment.

Bought a few of these before a ski trip and used them during night ski for added visibility and easy identification. They have three settings - a small white bulb, a flashing glowstick and a steady on glow function. I'd say that these are at least as bright as your typical chemlight and they last a heck of a lot longer. The only cons I could come up with are that they seem a little flimsy (thought not much less so than a normal chemlight) and they use 3 watch batteres, making it about as economical to replace the entire unit as it is to get new batteries.

Works great as an personal light that can with a loud whistle and the auto-off will save battery life. We used the green on as a tent light and it works great. Great for kids that you don't want to give expensive gear to but want them to be safe. A must for all my adventures.

Comments about Life Gear Glow Stick with Whistle:
It's a fun little gadget...however, if you find yourself needing to change the batteries or open the battery chamber, it's virtually impossible to realign the button. This causes the device to be labor intensive, rendering it pointless for anything beyond car camping.

Comments about Life Gear Glow Stick with Whistle:
I usually bring glow necklaces/bracelets/lights for my Girl Scout troops when we camp. Of course, they are not reusable so I thought I'd give the Glow Stick a try for our next camping trip. In addition to being reusable, the product is also a small flashlight, a whistle, and can also be put in flashing mode. It's well made for such an inexpensive product!
The only problem I had was that one of the glow sticks had a button that didn't easily toggle between the modes (glow, flashlight, glow/flashlight combo, flashing glow stick). Fortunately, the others all work well so I know it's one defective stick and not that all are poorly made.
I especially love the multi-color stick, as it transitions to many colors and is so fun!

Comments about Life Gear Glow Stick with Whistle:
I purchased eight of these glow sticks. Only four of them work. I tried changing the batteries on the first one that malfunctioned and it didn't help. They light up, but they won't stay lit. My husband suspects a problem with loose contacts. I'm pretty disappointed in the quality of these. I bought them to use for camping trips and for emergency preparedness and they don't really work for either thing. We recently had a power outage and I placed two of the "good" glow sticks in my girls' bedroom so they wouldn't wake up in the dark. BOTH glow sticks turned themselves off within two hours. The kids woke up screaming, which didn't help my opinion of these. I really like the concept, but they need to WORK.
