The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Trail Running Gaiters:
I purchased these to replace another brand that caused too much irritation on my bare legs on long trail runs. These gaiters are stretchy enough to create a good seal around the perimeter and stay in place without the addition of "hook and loop" tape on the heal. I like that the cord can be replaced easily when it wears out. I only have one 40 mile ultra on these, but they show no sign of wear.

Comments about REI Trail Running Gaiters:
I used this on my week long hike of the West Coast Trail in Vancouver BC. I opted for trail runners and lightweight gaiters instead of heavy boots. I loved the gaiters, the kept the mud and water out of the top of my shoes. They are breathe and I did not have the problems I have had in the past with sweaty legs and wet socks due to gaiters that do not breathe.
They keep the water out to a point, like any gaiter. As for the WCT, going through mud bogs my feet stayed dry with these gaiters and my gortex Vasque Blur trail runners.
I learned to keep the straps tied and just slip them on, the heal stayed in place and I did not have problems with them needing adjustment during the day.
They have cleaned up well post trip and are still in good shape.

Comments about REI Trail Running Gaiters:
Bottom Line Up Front: These gaiters work great when properly worn.
I have used these gaiters in ankle deep mud and rainy conditions while trail running. They do the trick every time! Paired with TNF Ultra 104 GTX shoes, my feet stay dry for the most part. Many people have complained that the hook that attaches to your laces rips off easily...that is because you are stretching it too far. The hook does not have to attach to your bottom lace...reach it down as far as it can go and attach it...don't stretch it too tight. It will stay in place as long as the gaiter tie downs that run under your shoe are properly secured as well. I have used these for about two months in some gnarly conditions and they are still going strong. Be sure to spray off the mud and grime after each use or the material will become brittle and lose its stretch after a while...this has happened with other softshell type products I have used.

Comments about REI Trail Running Gaiters:
Overall, a great gator but my problem with them lied in the poor single stitching of the hooks that hook to your laces. They performed great, similar to the previous reviews, but I returned 4 pairs due to the hook ripping off. There is hardly any pressure on the hook when I wear them but the slightest jerk caused the hook to rip off on 4 different pairs. Like I said, a great gator, but just a heads up on the poor stitching. I would recomend checking the hooks by yanking on them before you buy them and since I've had problems with so many pairs I would not recomend these to a friend unless they want to buy something they will have to work on to keep them going. However, if they make these in the future with better, reinforced stitching I would definitely buy them.

Comments about REI Trail Running Gaiters:
I didn't even get out the door with these gaiters. While I was putting them on the first time, one of the rubberized "reinforcement" areas peeled entirely free. Back in the box for a return! The problem seems to be the manufacturer is trying to bond a relatively stiff rubberized material on a very stretchy fabric. Additionally, these things are cut very small-- the L/XL would barely fit over my size 9.5 trail shoes.

Comments about REI Trail Running Gaiters:
These gaiters are nice, light weight and breathable. It does a great job keeping debris from getting inside your boots. They also wrap around your ankles nice and snug. When I tried them in the store, one hook ripped out of the stitching but, I still bought another pair because I like how it fits. Just be aware that the stitching may break by the hook.[...] All in all, They are nice gaiters and I am happy with them.

Comments about REI Trail Running Gaiters:
Needed gaiters to go with my Saloman XA Pros for day hiking and trail running. They are easy enough to put on and seemed to work great for the first hike until I took them off back at the car. The shoelace strap under my shoe had broken, or wore out on only a 10 mile hike over slightly moderate, rocky terrain. On the second hike, the metal hook at the toe, ripped completely off along the trail. They tended to work their way up over the back of your heels and on two ocassions, I had to stop to pull the gaiter back down over my shoe. I certainly expected more from an REI product. I've got an old pair of gaiters I've had for 10 years that are going strong and thought these would be an upgrade, I guess not.

Comments about REI Trail Running Gaiters:
These gaiters look nice, and are certainly competetively priced. They were a bit difficult to get onto my shoes (size 12), but once I figured this out they seemed ok. That it, until I ran the first 1 mile of my trail run. The back of the gaiter had slipped all the way up so it was almost above my ankle bone. Soon, the sides slipped up too, so that the entire gaiter was use less. Rocks, dirt and debris were free to enter my shoes and socks. These may work well for those with smaller feet, but for my men's 12, they did not work. I had to return them.

Comments about REI Trail Running Gaiters:
Both straps broke for me in under 15 miles while on the JMT. For the first 15 miles I was very happy with them, but pretty annoyed after that. Initial set up is a bit tricky - definitely recommended working it out before on the trail.

Comments about REI Trail Running Gaiters:
These worked great for me and my wife in the fresh snow banks playing with the kids. As we werent going to be in snow much this season, this was a great alternative to investing in snow boots. Just used these with our water proof trail runners and kept nice and dry.
