Strong but bulky
I have taken this cable lock on trips in southeast Asia and the subcontinent. It works as designed, and is tough. I travel very light, however, and the item is relatively bulky and heavy. I hestitate to bring it along. It would be great if the cable could coil up smaller but then the coiling and uncoiling action would not be as easy; quite the conundrum for the designers. If you pack heavy and take expensive stuff, this miniature Fort Knox will be a great purchase.

Handy lock
I bought this to lock up my bags and like the retractable design. It is a little bit clunky if you are trying to pack lite but it works great. I mostly used it to lock up my bag to something bolted down so I could sleep in the airport or train station. I wish that the cable end was a little smaller so it would fit through the smaller zipper loops on my bags but it works great on my backpack.

A good general purpose lock.

I purchased this ahead of a motorcycle trip so that I could lock up my riding gear during the day while we were hiking. The small diameter of the ~3 ft cable was nice because it could be looped through all our stuff, bags and jackets etc., to lock them to the bike. And, I could see using it while camping or traveling etc. to secure your belongings. That being said while it feels well constructed, it is made of plastic so if somebody really wanted your stuff they could take it, but that is true of any lock. At the end of the day it did what I wanted it to do, gave me peace of mind while leaving my stuff unattended and survived the the vibrations, dirt, and rain of trail riding.

Great for locking up my snowboard

I bought this lock for a specific purpose. To lock up my snowboard. It was easy to set the combination and there is no way to accidentally change the combo. It is very easy to use and fits perfectly in my side pocket of my snowboard pants. It’s lightweight and small. I don’t even realize it’s in my pocket. Super fast to lock up my board to prevent a quick grab and go. The cable isn’t too thick and I’m sure it could be cut but a thief is more likely to go for a board that is unlocked. It’s perfect for the purpose it was bought for.

Theft protection for skis that's simple and easy

I purchased this cable lock for one purpose: to lock up my alpine skis when I'm in the chalet at a ski area. The lock works great for this purpose. I loop it through the ski break or a slot in the heel piece. It's easy to carry in my jacket pocket when skiing and I feel confident that it provides enough protection to deter ski theft (in this setting). While I may find other uses for this cable lock, I'll be happy even if all I use it for is skiing.

sturdy lock

Bought this to hook bag to train bars and with my friends while traveling. It is a bit big and cable is not that long, for it's size I thought cable would be longer. Seems sturdy and perfect for what I need it for.

Excellent deterrent security for everywhere.

I really love this thing. I can lock my pack or carry-on to anything--not an overnight leave it alone security--it's security to prevent someone from just grabbing and running away with your stuff from a bus, train, bathroom, restaurant, trunk of your car. Let's face it--there are thieves all over the place watching you and your stuff just waiting for the opportunity when you are not looking to steal your stuff. Use this to make it hard on them. Lock your stuff to something and it's a strong deterrent. They are not waste time trying to get your cabled stuff--they don't want to be seen with a cable cutter--they will focus on someone else. When I am in a hotel for example--I lock stuff in my pack, then use this cable lock to lock the pack to a chair or table. Leaving stuff in a car is always a bad idea--but it's better if you lock your suitcase--then lock your suitcase with the Cable Lock to any bracket in the hatch or trunk area. Better yet is to cover it all up. Thieves hate that--they break into the car, pull the cover away now they have to deal with a cable lock--they are going to wish they stayed in college! You set your own 4 digit combo. Get it--You won't regret it!

Great cable lock for securing items to my bike

I purchased this lock to use in securing helmet, jacket etc to my motorcycle when I go into a store or other stop while out riding. The Mechanism is sound and the combination is very easy to set and change. It takes up almost no space when stored and will also fit easily into the tool pouch I carry on my bicycle.

Lightweight security

This lock lives in my backpack for when I need to use a locker or lock my pack to something, almost like a carabiner. The plastic design originally concerned me, but it's proven to be tougher than it looks and the cable makes it very versatile.

Retractasafe travel lock

I was traveling to Cabo with a bunch of fishing polls and needed a lick for the case. This worked perfectly and easy to use. I would recommend it to anyone.
