One of Scarpa's lightest backpacking designs, the Barun GTX boots offer rugged, waterproof performance and a supportive platform that will carry you over passes and through valleys in comfort.

  • Nubuck and suede leather uppers provide superb durability, support, and water resistance while maintaining a low weight
  • Gore-Tex® liners make these boots waterproof yet breathable for comfort in a variety of conditions
  • Moisture-wicking nylon linings absorb and disperse sweat to keep feet and boots dry and comfortable
  • Close-to-toe lacing and gusseted tongues provide a snug fit and repel trail debris; rubber rands shroud toes against bumps and abrasion
  • Polyurethane and EVA midsoles provide ample cushioning for long days on the trail
  • Performance-Flex nylon insoles provide the underfoot support and stability of shanks without the additional weight
  • Vibram® Megane Lite rubber outsoles offer excellent grip and stability while keeping the weight low

    Glad to see that REI is making this boot available on line, but would be even "gladder" if it was stocked in store. Had to go elsewhere for my initial purchase.

    Have been backpacking/hiking since '73, mostly hiking since about '02 ( yes, horses can help!).

    I started the old way with a lot of boot- Galibier's, Pivettas, Lowas, etc. etc. Most recently Zamberlan and La Sportiva. All were "good" boots-after break in. But, I've got some old slides of the blisters that helped break in those boots, and an emergency room would smile.

    Scarpa has got something here that I never thought I'd live to appreciate- a boot that is comfortable, gives good support, is water resistant,and-fits like a heavy running shoe!
