My keens are a necessity!
I have to rave on and on about Keens. I have probably 6 different styles and am now buying another pair of Whisper Sandals. I lived in the Democratic Republic of Congo for 18 months as a humanitarian missionary trekking in and out of the jungle working on water projects. I always wore my Keens. Now I live in Beijing China as an English teacher at a University. I just spent 7 weeks between semesters trekking around 7 Asian countries...yup always wearing my Keens. THEY ARE NOW WORN OUT! (I average 5-10 miles per day) I am heading back to the USA for two months and can't wait to pick up my new Keens that are like me....always ready for the next adventure.

Different fit than the Waterport H2
I like how the webbing is neutral but the sole has a pop of color. The Whisper Keens fit completely different than the Waterport H2. I was initially happy about that because while I love the Waterport Keen's I've had for 10 years (and are just starting to fall apart), those do fit wide and run short. The Whispers are more narrow, which is great, and actually run a bit more true to size. What I didn't notice at first, is that the molding of the sole is completely different. The arch support is very low compared to the Waterport and is not placed properly (at least not for my feet). The sole of the heel also feels 'off'. While I can wear the Waterports for long hikes and day in and out without any soreness, I cannot do the same with the Whispers. After an hour I can tell my arches are not properly supported and my lower back starts feeling pressure. I have fairly high arches, so this wouldn't be a problem for those who don't. They are cute, and I'm sure they'll last forever. Given the current sale, I think I'll jump on the opportunity to purchase another pair of Waterport H2s!

Disappointed in durability

I really like the fit and comfort of these sandals. The uppers still look almost new after my trips to Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica where I did quite a bit of hiking though none of it over rough terrain. I've now owned them for 20 months. However, after wearing them just a few times this summer the sole of the shoe separated from the top of the show - a KNOWN defect for which Keen has clearly not found a resolution. The warranty is for 12 months. These sandals should have at least a couple of more years of use but now I am faced with a fairly expensive repair with unknown durability. I will not purchase another pair in the future.

Disappointing change to Keen whisper sandals

I have a old pair of Keen whisper sandals I love. The sides of the new sandals are 1/2 inch higher and rub my ankle so I can not wear them. I love the color but will have to return them. Very disappointing! Why do they feel they have to change the design??

So far so good!

I wear a size 6 1/2 in most shoes and used to have a pair of Keens (I forgot which kind) in a 6 1/2. I eventually got rid of them because they were too big and my feet slid around. My heel did that weird sliding out thing that people have described on here. I got a size 6 for this pair this time and they're nice and snug but also very comfy. It doesn't feel like my feet will slide around like they did with the pair that was too big for me. I'll update this review if I have a change of heart after wearing them on more adventures.

Amazingly Immediately Comfortable

I am ecstatically happy with my new Whisper Water Shoes! I ordered a size 11. I am 70 years old with toe spread issue from wearing sandals every day in Florida all these years! and sometimes I have issues with new shoes rubbing or being cramped or too short at the toe box... These are perfect with extra room in the toe box area - no squished toes! Love the protection it provides from the possiblities of bumping into or walking in rough terrain & going into wet landings then hiking !!! they are comfortable right out of the box! The draw string is easy to pull to adjust on the fly, securing the heel in place. And soooo cute ... Going to the Galapagos next week & now feel confident & safe with these sandals! Don't hesitate - get them!!!

LOVE these shoes!!!

I bought these shoes because I was going to the Sierra's and doing alot of kayaking. These shoes were great getting from the car to the launch site with kayak. In the sierras dealing with tree roots and uneven ground, my feet were secure. With flip flops my feet would have been sliding around. Once in my kayak, I took them off and let them dry on the deck. Also, another time just going for a casual walk...turned into a 3 mile follow the Rush Creek stream through mud and wet stuff, these shoes did the job. Your feet get dirty, but what the heck your outdoors! I love these shoes and would recommend them to anyone looking for an all around shoe you can get wet.

Super Comfortable Hiking Sandals

These shoes are so comfortable & I absolutely love them! I had to adjust the bungee a few times to get the fit just right (otherwise it rubs under the ankle for me), but once I got it- I love it! I usually wear a size 9 and I would say the 9 is a little big (there's definitely extra space for my toes at the end)... but with a 8.5, my heel was sliding off the back. The only reason they are not 5 stars is because of the awkward sizing for me... I wore these this past weekend to a camping trip on Catalina Island in California. They were perfect for hanging at the campsite, kayaking, hiking, and walking along the cliffs. I plan to bring these on my hike in October on the Kalalau Trail in Kauai!

Quality not as good as last pair.

Very disappointed in these after less than one year. Previous pair were troopers and lasted years until tread was worn. The torn stretchy fabric around the heel causes them to sip off when hiking uphill. Very skeptical of buying any more keen sandals as they obviously are trying to cut corners on materials used. Other than this issue the rest of the sandals are strong and have held up well. These were purchased at a well known outdoor retailer so I know they are not knock-offs. Too last to return.

I wanted to love these

I wanted to love these. They are light weight and not as bulky as some of the other Keen sandals. They felt great in the store. I was a little rushed and didn't walk around much. When I got home I put them on to walk around the house before using them the next day and my foot kept sliding out. I tried to adjust them but nothing seemed to help. Other people love them. So maybe it's just how my feet are shaped. I did read some other reviews after that said some had similar problems. I wear a size a 11, I maybe could have used an 11.5. I order two other keen sandals from the Keen website that are not sold at REI to see which one will work best for me.

narrow

I am an avid Keen fan. Bought my first pair with a gift card from high school graduation and had them for four years. Convinced my husband to switch over to Keens (from just run of the mil sandals/hiking shoes) and now my son get a pair every summer. This being said, I was sadly disappointed when these adorable shoes did not fit. They are incredibly narrow, I wear a size 9 in Keens and ordered the same size in the Whisper. The Newport and Newport H2 both fit perfectly in a nine, these were much much too narrow. Had to send back for a refund. Going back to the Newport line.
