The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Exped SynMat 9 Deluxe Air Pad with Pump:
I've taken this mat to the BWCA for two week canoe trips, car camping to Glacier and multiple weekend trips.
I've used lots of other mats - thermarest models, etc. and this is by far the best I've found. It is comfortable for an old man with creaky joints, light weight, compact and easy to inflate. It packs down really small for portaging or backpacking.
It's a great mat!

Comments about Exped SynMat 9 Deluxe Air Pad with Pump:
I have the earlier version of this pad that does not have the built-in pump. You can blow it up with your mouth, but it takes a good while. I bought their pillow pump, and that makes short work of inflating it, plus I can use it as a pillow.
I do bicycle touring, and since I don't do it that often, I am usually uncomfortable sleeping at night. Getting really tired and not sleeping well is a bad combination, so I got this pad. It is very comfortable. I set it up on our wood floor and laid on it for a while to determine if it was going to be comfortable. Next thing I knew, I was waking up about an hour later. It insulates quite well, noticably better than my 2" thermarest, which is interesting because I thought my thermarest insulated just fine. Since I am a side sleeper, I have always desired thicker and thicker sleeping pads. After getting this pad, I don't have to look any more. If they had a mummy version of this pad, I'd probably spring for that to reduce weight. Of course, its way lighter than the 3" (or whatever) thermarest.

Comments about Exped SynMat 9 Deluxe Air Pad with Pump:
Got this just in time to hit the woods after a big snow, spent 3 nights on top of 12" of packed snow. Slept better then I do at home. Sure it may weigh a bit more then some others, but felt great.
**Saw someone gave this pad 1star due to the size, may want to double check, the 9 deluxe is 26" wide not 20", heck that's part of my reason for getting it.
Worth the money, worth the weight.

Comments about Exped SynMat 9 Deluxe Air Pad with Pump:
Ordered this to upgrade my sleeping pad for camping with my boys who are cub scouts. I pumped it up last night at home to test it out. The pump takes a few trys to get used to but when you figure it out it works quite well. Once inflated it was very comfortable and easy to adjust the air pressure for the perfect fit. The fabric on top is very smooth and comfortable. And it felt warm (not hot but definately not cool) while I was lying on it. I think one could easily use this with a blanket and be perfectly comfortable. It packs up to less than 1/2 the size of my self inflaters and weighs less as well.
I can't wait to try it in the field. For me this was an excellent upgrade from self inflating pads!
Service and delivery comments:
Ordered online with free delivery to my local REI. Arrived early and I was notified the day it arrived. Excellent customer service when I picked it up as well.

Comments about Exped SynMat 9 Deluxe Air Pad with Pump:
I love this sleeping pad. I used it for the first time in a cabin near Chena Hot Springs. I am a big guy and I did not like camping since any pad I used always made me feel like I was sleeping on concrete. I never could find a pad that was thick enough and compact in design for storage in a kayak or back pack. This pad rules! It is soft, easy to inflate, and my friends all wanted to buy one after seeing it! Three of my friends purchased this pad and they all love it. I highly recommend this pad for you if you never want to feel the ground again while asleep.
I had reservations about the price but I had to remind myself that if I was not satisfied with my purchase, I could take it back to REI for an exchange or get my money back since I am member of REI. I will never let anyone ever borrow it and I will tell them to buy their own! :) Anyway, the baffle system makes it easy to inflate and no more passing out from blowing hot air! You have to see the self inflating system they have with this pad and it really works. I know you are reading these reviews and trying to see which one will sell you on the product or convince you to avoid it at all costs! Look, buy this pad and you will be amazed at how comfortable you will feel sleeping each night. I wish I could find a pillow that is as awesome as this pad. If you do not like it and I highly doubt that, take it back. It is REI folks! You should have no fear with ever trying products with the concern you will lose your money. I suspect you will love this pad very much. There is a more heavy duty version of this pad (black in color) but you should be fine with this one. I have hauled it in my kayak for expedition camping and used it twice for car camping. It is so small when not inflated that you could keep it in your car and forget about it! Enjoy your new sleeping pad and get ready to make some ZZZs while everyone wonders why you suddenly enjoy sleeping on the ground again!

Comments about Exped SynMat 9 Deluxe Air Pad with Pump:
I just got back from a 2 week motorcycle road trip using the Synmat 9. I'm 50, overweight, bad back, bad knees, the whole 9 yards. I slept almost as well on this pad as I do my SleepNumber bed at home. I did over-inflate it the first night, and it stayed stiff as a board all night. I did leave the plug out of the pump inlet one night and over the course of the night the air leaked out past the one-way valve in the pump, but that was my fault. On the motorcycle, weight wasn't as big an issue as it will be when I start backpacking again, but since I sleep on my side and move around a lot, I'll leave some other stuff at home to be able to take my Synmat with me.

Comments about Exped SynMat 9 Deluxe Air Pad with Pump:
Loved the pad at first. Used it for snow camping, regular camping ,backpacking, kayak camping. Used it about 5 times then it started leaking air. Tried to find leak by immersing in water, etc. but could not find the problem. Stuck with an expensive pad that won't stay inflated...

Comments about Exped SynMat 9 Deluxe Air Pad with Pump:
I like this pad a lot. It's very comfortable and warm. Inflates and deflates easily, packs easily. The only significant downside is it's very noisy. Nearby tent occupants complaint that they wake up every time I turn over. The pad rubs on the tent bottom and makes a lot of noise. I've slept in 3 different tents and it does it in every one. Other than that it's a great pad. Huge upgrade from a self-inflatable pad.

Comments about Exped SynMat 9 Deluxe Air Pad with Pump:
After doing a ton of research, my partner and I decided to shell out the money for these pads. We could not be happier. While they may be a bit heavier and take a bit longer to inflate (I counted 350 pumps to inflate one mat, which takes just a few minutes - one pump is like a chest compression), they more than make up for it in comfort and warmth. They are supportive without being hard, comfortable without being squishy, and definitely insulate from the cold ground. I also love that I can sleep right on top of the mat comfortably on warm nights. I would not camp anywhere without these mats!

Comments about Exped SynMat 9 Deluxe Air Pad with Pump:
after being tired of coming home sore and stiff from camp outs. I have tried cots, various sleeping pads, inflatable mattresses but nothing compares to this. I have used this pad now on a cold camp out and I woke up feeling great, not stiff and sore as usual. I am a side sleeper with a select comfort bed at home and I was just as comfortable on this pad if not more. I now look forward to outings and camp outs using this pad. I am 40+ with arthitis in my spine and over weight.
