The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Merrell Siren Waterproof Mid Leather Hiking Boots - Women's:
I found out that I would be going on a 20 mile backpacking trip in 2 weeks. I didn't feel that was long enough to purchase and break-in some heavier duty boots, so I bought these because I already have and love the low top Siren Ventilators, but would need something with a little more support and that was waterproof for this hike. These boots delivered right out of the box. I took them on a short 3 mile hike to test them out and as expected they were comfortable right away. Though for the longer backpacking trip I could have used a little more support they really did their job: My feet were kept dry, comfortable, and I only got a couple small blisters in places that were not bothersome. We had some snow on the trail and later very muddy and wet trails and these kept my feet nice and dry. Additionally, the aggressive tread pattern provided excellent traction on slick surfaces. I'm sure that over the winter these will also get use daily due to their comfort and warmth. While I'd like to get something a little stiffer for longer hikes, these boots performed great overall. I am a huge Merrell fan, and I'd happily recommend these or my Ventilators to anyone.
For those of you who wear orthotics, I do recommend doing so with these as there is not noticeable arch support.
I also recommend buying a half size up if you want to accommodate thick hiking socks. I usually wear an 8.5, but the 9 worked out great.

Comments about Merrell Siren Waterproof Mid Leather Hiking Boots - Women's:
These Merrell hiking boots are comfortable and nice looking! I wear these for day hiking over rocky terrain/bouldering and they hold up well. While I haven't completely submersed these boots in water, they are definitely water resistant in puddles, mist and light snow. My feet stayed dry and warm (I had on wool socks as well).
I bought these in a half size larger to accommodate my thick wool socks and this worked out great. I didn't need much of a break-in period for these boots; wore them around town a bit before I hiked in them and they were comfortable from the first step of my hike. The ankle support is great without digging into my ankles. They're not bulky or stiff like some of the hiking boots I've worn and they're the nicest looking hiking boots I've worn. I really love these!

Comments about Merrell Siren Waterproof Mid Leather Hiking Boots - Women's:
I am a Zoo keeper. I have been wearing Merrells for over ten years. I walk at least 10 miles a day, and my feet are almost always wet. I realize that this is not the norm, but for years---Merrell held up! It was my favorite shoe--for everything, work; backpacking; climbing, etc. Over the last three years, I have seen/felt a decline in quality. My Merrells used to last at least a year, in torturous conditions. Now, however, I am lucky if they last six months. It's very frustrating to spend a ton of money (something Zoo keepers don't make a lot of!), spend the time and care to re-waterproof--and still end up with shoes literally falling apart on your feet within 3-4 months. I still buy Merrell's for my adventures, but I am afraid I will have to try other brands for work--something that makes me VERY sad!

Comments about Merrell Siren Waterproof Mid Leather Hiking Boots - Women's:
I purchased these boots in a desperate attempt to find waterproof boots that would keep my feet dry in the mountains of West Virginia... and they have been a sore disappointment. After only three weeks of use, both boots began leaking at the toe in only mildly rainy/drizzly conditions, and within an hour my feet are soaking wet. The other bad thing about them is once they are wet, they take FOREVER to dry out (I'm talking 3+ days, with insoles removed), which is very inconvenient for my job. Good things about these boots are that they are super comfortable, and required only about four days of break-in time.

Comments about Merrell Siren Waterproof Mid Leather Hiking Boots - Women's:
I bought a pair of these yesterday. The left boot felt strange, as if I can feel the ground through the boot at the toe area, but nothing look obviously wrong. They look great, fit well, and felt comfortable when I was walking around in the store on carpet. However when I took them out to the real world the hard concrete and asphalt came right through the bottom as if there were no padding at all. I am using super feet insole in place of the thin insole they came with. There is cracking in the grey rubber already. This is after a few hours of wear? I do not understand the other reviews for this boot except maybe I got a defective pair. But it is hard to tell since the REI store do not have more than one pair of these in my size.

Comments about Merrell Siren Waterproof Mid Leather Hiking Boots - Women's:
I bought them to use while volunteering in northwestern Ecuador. They provided great traction and comfort while hiking in the Andes. Their waterproofing holds up well in moderate rain, but I wore them while hiking in the Redwoods during a downpour and water soaked through to my socks after about a mile of hiking. Although I like them a lot, I wish I would have spent the extra money and bought shoes with Gore-Tex.

Comments about Merrell Siren Waterproof Mid Leather Hiking Boots - Women's:
I use these boots to hike in the Andes and climb around archaeological sites. Within the first month of this field season and the use of these boots, the sole started to separate from the front of the boot. Then all the sewn sections started to separate. They feel very narrow and I have twisted my ankle several times using these. They would be great for a casual walker needing a more attractive, versatile and practical walking shoe but they're no good on the trail.

Comments about Merrell Siren Waterproof Mid Leather Hiking Boots - Women's:
I absolutely LOVE the way this boot feels on my foot, but after reading all the reviews that said that they weren't really waterproof, I was a little nervous about wearing them for my recent trip to Yosemite. As a precaution, I sprayed them with water-proofing spray (two coats!) In Yosemite, I was walking through HEAVY SLUSH...and a lot of it. My boots stayed TOTALLY DRY inside. (I also wore wool socks....just in case!) The boots were warm and comfortable. I have trouble with my feet and wear orthotics. I found that these boots didn't have a whole lot of arch support, so I just slipped out the boot liners and used my orthotics instead. This provided a better arch support for me. Two simple solutions which helped me to have the perfect boot!

I've done a 3 day and a 4 day backpacking trip with these. They were very comfortable from the start. They seriously feel like pillows surrounding your feet. No blisters. I did a lot of harsh/steep scrambling on the last trip and they surprisingly held up great. Great traction.
I'm skeptical about how durable they are. They are very soft and flexible. I will just have to wait and see.
I think these boots are more water resistant than waterproof. They stand up to rain, but not to walking through shallow streams. Use the rocks/logs.
The original insole they came with was not comfortable for me. I switched it out for the Lynco orthotics.
Also, my measured shoe size is 6 1/2 and I had to buy a 7 1/2.

Comments about Merrell Siren Waterproof Mid Leather Hiking Boots - Women's:
I've had many Merrell hiking/trail shoes. I needed a waterproof boot for a long adventure into the Grand Canyon. I bought a 1/2 larger than my normal size. The shoe fit like my true size and after I put on my hiking socks, they felt on the edge of beeing to small. The tread and suport were awesome. The laces stayed tied with no adjustments needed. I hiked down the South Kiabab trail with no problems. The rest of the 10 mile hike was not comfortable. I had 7 blisters and acheing feet like there was no insole in the shoe. The hike out 2 days later was rough. The blisters were around my foot like the shoe was too narrow. I love this brand but this shoe was a miss for long backpacking trips.
