The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Topeak Basket - Front:
I used this basket with almost nothing in it (only a light lock and a wallet). It worked fine. However, when I put some produce in it, it slipped downward. Then, when I hit a small bump, the rack snapped off and spilled all my produce onto the pavement. The plastic snapped away from the mount.

I have no idea how to mount this thing. there are a couple cartoon directions but that's it. no directions inside the box or "words."

This basket worked for me for about 6 months as a short trip commuter. The handle disappeared after about 3 months. Finally I put too much weight in it and it just snapped off. It's ok, but it isn't great.

Comments about Topeak Basket - Front:
This particular bike basket manages to go all wrong. Topeak rates it to carry 10lbs. Within the first two weeks, the included wire support snapped from the strain of loads of less than 10lbs. Normally the basket takes my bike lock, my smaller than a paperback purse, and a 750mL water bottle... not exactly a demanding load. But that's what snapped it. I replaced it with a much heavier gauge brake cable, which has held up for about 2 years so far. It jiggles every time I hit rough pavement, even if the load is very light.
Shortly after that, the wire mesh began to tear in one spot. The tear hasn't progressed much over the past two years, but I wasn't pleased.
The basket is a good size. It is tremendously convenient, to the point where I use it as my first choice for almost all errands. It gets endless compliments because it's such a practical piece of bike gear. Even when I use my panniers, it comes in handy. It is a great way to keep track of how much I'm buying at various stops, so I don't end up overloaded.
Bike baskets are a great idea. This particular bike basket is not very sturdy, so it is much less useful than it should be. I know I'll have to replace it sooner rather than later, which is really annoying.

I have to agree with one of the other reviews, the mount for the handlebars does not stay in place for long, regardless of the wire it comes with that is supposed to counteract this. And I also overtightened a bolt which caused the plastic threading to break; not very impressive for [$].This may not seem like a big ordeal, but when I put anything in there over 1/2 pound (like my bag or books for class) it would rotate downwards, and when I put a lot of weight in it, it went down so much it pushed into my front brake cable, and I had to ride home with much difficulty. Having the convenience of removing the basket so easily is awesome, but does not out-weigh what I mentioned above.I have considered returning this as I can't really use it; I would recommend sticking with a back basket, or at least getting a front basket with a metal mounting system so that the threading won't be stripped, and can't break due to over-tightening.

Comments about Topeak Basket - Front:
The basic bolting to the handlebar is not tight enough to prevent the basket from rotating. This is prevented by the wire that wraps under the handlebar stem. I didn't know this and overtightened the bolts -- which broke them through the plastic fitting. Oops!

This is a sturdy, good looking basket. The mounting system does not work for my Specailzed Vita bike. It would work great on my Gary Fisher mountain bike, but that would just be weird.
Basically, the part that grips the handlebars is not adaptable to different sized bars.
