Comments about REI Rendezvous Pants - Women's:
I LOVE these pants, I bought two of 'em. I usually have a really hard time finding good-fitting travel pants, because they're either too tight, or look like something your grandmother would wear (no offense, grandma!). These, however, fit like a dream (I got mine about a size larger than I usually wear). They're flattering on the rear, and don't bunch up in the front. I'm also pretty hippy, so if you're super-skinny, I can't vouch for how they'll fit.
The multiple pockets are great, especially the hidden one inside the front pocket. The side pockets aren't really that wide, so you're limited as to what you could carry in there, but heavy stuff might pull down your pants anyway. You'd probably be good for putting cash or a passport in there, something thin, most likely.
I wore these on the Mist Trail in Yosemite and got completely soaked, but they were dry within minutes, and never felt weighed down or sopping wet. They look so good, you could probably wear them for everyday stuff, too!
They also weigh very little and you could probably bring 3 or 4 of these for the same bulk & weight of a pair of jeans. Like the other reviewer, I wish they came in more colors, 'cause I'd buy them all. As it is, I'm considering my third pair. I'm looking forward to dragging these all over the world!

Comments about REI Rendezvous Pants - Women's:
I've been digging through travel pants for an upcoming Europe trip and for backpacking/hiking in general and have been pretty sad with what I've found so far: lots of "tapered leg"(ew), swishy fabrics that just SOUND like travel pants, or, they're so thin you can see your underoos through them. Or static central! So far, these are leaps and bounds above! The soft material doesn't make any loud swishing, they fit pretty well for a travel pant, the color (pine) pretty much goes with anything AND hides dirt, and they've got good pockets that don't stick up like other pants I've tried. (For reference I've tried on Columbia, Patagonia, Ex Officio, North Face, ArcTeryx and Mountain Hardwear and I still like these best.) I'm 5'5, and 125lbs, and bought the size 6 which unfortunately "hangs" just a bit on me (instead of being cute and slim like in the picture...they have a bit more of a relaxed fit on me) but I wanted these to work with my Danskos for travel, so I kept them for the length and because the waist fits perfectly. (There is a drawcord but I don't think I need it, unless I tone up a bit... :) I prefer a fit that sits on the hips, but a 4 would probably fit perfectly if I rode them up around my waist. Still, the waist doesn't gap in the back or come down too far when I squat. The fabric has some give but isn't so stretchy that it's going to bag out. I have long legs (32 inseam) and these still work with low Dansko heels...maybe order down a size if you've got short legs? THEY DO WRINKLE a bit...but I've ironed like 2 dresses in my whole life, so I really don't care.
Also, there are some drawcords in the hem, which I assume would come in handy if you had to wade, but not really much else - if they redo these babies I'd suggest a roll-up capri option. (I know. They make a zip off but I'm just not the zip off type.)
Anyway...I'm packing a pair of fleecy-comfy pants, a skirt, and these and that's IT for my bottom half!

Comments about REI Rendezvous Pants - Women's:
I did not actually keep this pair of pants, I guess I am pretty picky...but do not be discouraged, they may be perfect for you.
They were very slimming & had very stylish lines. Ussually pants look good on the hanger but not on me...but these looked wonderful & felt very comfortable. Another wonderful trait was that the fabric is VERY lightweight, however that was actually a drawback for me because they looked wrinkled. I am all about easy maintenance.
The zipper on the pocket didn't not move freely, you won't have to worry about pick-pocketers. I could not zip it with one hand at all & that won't work for me.
The color was not what I expected but it's very nice. (blacken-pine) I thought the color would be more greyish-deep green (the color of pine woods in the dusk.) It's more like dark olive-evergreen with a brown hue. They will go with any color.
The pant legs are VERY long, which is great if you are tall. (I am not, according to the chart I was expecting 30 to 31" inseam, they were probably 33-34"+.)
Thank you REI for taking them back. I think you guys are the best!

I was looking for an alternative to TNF Vertex Temptation pants, which I love, but this isn't it. To fasten these at the waist there's a zipper, a button, snaps and a drawstring--way too fussy for travel or field pants. The legs were too long and would be hard to shorten with their elastic cord in the hem. The pockets were skimpy and there weren't enough. All in all, rather unsatisfactory so I got another pair of the Vertex Temptations.

I bought 2 pairs of these to take on a trip to Italy for 3 weeks, and they were perfect. Very comfortable for long plane ride, hiking, and sightseeing, but look good enough to wear to restaurants. The fabric breathes well, so even on hot days, I was able to wear them hiking (and I have the black ones). But, on the cool and windy days we had, they provided plenty of protection. I had no problem with them wrinkling, any small amount of wrinkling that might have occurred from being in a tightly packed suitcase quickly fell out. I washed them in the hotel sink, hung them to dry, and they were dry in less than an hour. The pockets worked great for me, I used the side zipper pockets for my passport, maps, coins, etc. I did use the drawstring at the waist, as I bought them a tad big so that if I ate a lot, they wouldn't be too tight, and it worked out fine. I, too, wish they came in more colors, I would buy one of each. However, the black worked out great for me, made it super easy to pack, as everything went with them. These are the perfect travel pants -- I won't ever travel without them.

I LOVE these pants! I am leaving for New Zealand in a few days and had purchased these for a backpacking trip, but since I bought them, I haven't wanted to take them off! Luckily I bought two pairs when they were on sale. I often have trouble finding pants that fit in both the waist and the thighs--usually I have to squeeze my thighs in to get a good fitting waist or else if they fit my thighs, they gap terribly in the back. Not with these pants! The fit is super flattering AND there is an adjustable tie on the inside of the waistband. I got them in a size 6- I wanted them to be roomy enough to fit long underwear comfortably underneath. I am 5'6" and weigh 135-smaller on top with shapely hips and muscular legs-and they fit wonderfully. They are very lightweight and therefore probably not very warm, but that can be solved with layering. I have tried on MANY different pairs of hiking pants-and even purchased a more expensive pair that REI carries-but have not found any others that I LOVE as much as these!

I bought 2 pairs of these pants for my trip to Peru. I tried on a lot of brands and these were the best for the price, fit, and features. I wish the waist wasn't so small. The waist on these are a lot smaller than other brands and it would be nice to have some room since they have a draw string to tighten the waist. Invisible zipper vents for those super hot days of hiking would have been nice as well like they do on the REI hiking shirt. Other than that, I'm really happy with these pants. I trekked to a lot of Inka ruins in the heat and up and down thousands of feet of stairs. These pants were lightweight enough to be cool, but provide much needed sun protection. They are also super light weight and easy to pack and wear. I also had a pair washed while I was there and it held up to the old school washers. I'll definitely buy another pair for future trips. I'm happy to have found these.

I'm just getting into hiking -- day trips so far -- and these are the first pair of authentic hiking pants I've bought. I love them! I was prepared for hiking pants to be very unflattering and perhaps not even comfortable but I was way off base. These pants are lightweight, comfy and wear well. When I read reviews about how women wore them for traveling and/or out to dinner to look nicer on their trips I was dubious, but after trying on the black pair I now see what they mean. With the right top, these pants could make a nice travel outfit. I'm sure I'll be back for more pairs as I get more into hiking!

Comments about REI Rendezvous Pants - Women's:
I returned these pants for a combination of reasons. The general fit was good for me(size 6- I am 5'5", 130# with straight hips, fairly long legs)however they were way too long- much longer than the size chart indicates. The draw cord hem would make hemming them a nuisance and I just didn't like the fabric weight and feel well enough to deal with that. The fabric is very light and a bit crinkly/crepe type texture-not to my liking.
