Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad - X-Large:

We took this pad in our paniers on the back of our pack horse into the High Uintahs Wilderness for 3 days. I usually cannot sleep comfortably on the ground, but this was the most comfort I have ever had with a pad and sleeping bag. I did not feel the cold (it was 39 degrees at night) or rocks. My husband whined a bit about the bulk it took up since we only take bare minimum, but he ended up trying to steal it all weekend, and is getting one for himself now. Does not add any significant weight on the horse, just a bit bulky but straps down nicely. Very glad I bought it!

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad - X-Large:

I bought this for my boyfriend for when we car camp and we just tried it out last weekend. He's notorious for being able to sleep anywhere and on anything, but even he woke up the next morning and said he didn't realize what he was missing in life until he experienced this pad!

It does take a bit longer to fully inflate, but just leave it alone for a while as others have recommended and you'll be fine. The thickness means that whether you're a back, side or stomach sleeper, you'll be comfy no matter what and the XL size is perfect for a big, muscular frame (he's over 6'2", 215 lbs) with room left to move around.

In terms of rolling it up, it does take longer than other pads. However, I didn't have any problems getting it into the original stuff sack, using the method where you roll up the end tightly and then every few rolls you kneel on it for a few seconds, then roll, then kneel, etc. The way I see it, the couple extra minutes it took at the end were completely worth the quality of sleep the pad provided.

I'm going to wait until the pads go on sale again (hopefully) and buy one of my own, but even at full price I can't recommend it enough!

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad - X-Large:

Used this matt on a seven day bicycle trip. Great size for one person using a two person tent. Sets up easily by just opening valves and doing something else for a while. Firmness easily adjusted by blowing additional air into matt. Large enough so nothing hangs off edge. Held sleeping bag and/or sheet preventing one from slipping down slope. Thick enough to handle even the largest missed objects under the tent floor. Fits nicely in its stuff sack especially if one rolls it twice by locking the caps after the first roll and then re-rolling before opening one cap. Can be done inside the tent when raining. Suspect it might be too large to back pack but otherwise great buy.
Would definitely recommend to others!

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad - X-Large:

The pad itself is quite comfortable. However, plan on making multiple attempts to re-roll it to get it back in it stuff sack. Budget another $15 for the large Therm-a-rest stuff sack for when you finally get tired of rolling the thing up 3 times to get it in the original sack.

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad - X-Large:

Pro: Good quality, well made, easy inflation and it kept me seperated me from the rocks.

Con: PIA to deflate and stow. Had to roll it twice to get it in the stuff sack. (This is my first self-inflator so maybe this is normal)

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad - X-Large:

This roll is pretty fantastic for car camping.
I found sleeping on it EXTREMELY comfortable!! I think my back felt better sleeping on this for 3 days than when I got back to my home bed! It says it is non-slip, but I would disagree. We were camped on a slight hill and did find ourselves sliding a little bit.
It self-inflates very easily, however deflating is a bit more of a process. Its not terribly difficult, but after a few minutes of rolling, squeezing, rolling, repeat, its a little tiresome. It also does not ever seem to return to its original size and it becomes difficult to get it back into its carry sack.
There is no shoulder strap, so depending on how far you have to carry it, i would rig or sew a strap onto it. I plan on getting a nylon strap of some sort and attaching it.
All and all, I would recommend the XL size over the L, its worth the extra room it takes up in comfort level.

Comments about REI Camp Bed 2.5 Self-Inflating Pad - X-Large:

I took my wife camping last weekend. She tried my pad and ended up sleeping on it. She had a smaller thinner pad. The next day I bought another one of these. It is the most comfortable pad EVER. Don't expect to backpack with this pad because it is big even when rolled up, but if you are looking for comfort this is the way to go.
