Comments about CamelBak Better Bottle - 16 oz.:
These Camelbak Better Bottles are wicked cool. I have bottles in all 3 sizes and in both cap styles; I could write 6 separate reviews, but I'm just going to talk about them all in this one post. You can't go wrong with having several sizes on hand to choose from depending on when and where you will use the bottle.
All bottles:
-- BPA free gives me peace of mind.
-- No bad (plastic) taste in my water.
-- Bottles are easy to clean. (I hand wash all my bottles, but they are dishwasher top-rack safe, although I don't know how you'd get the larger bottles to fit in the top rack)
-- Bottles are easy to open due to cap design.
-- Sturdy construction.
-- Both classic cap and flip-up spout cap are interchangeable on all 3 bottle sizes. (The Nalgene wide-mouth caps also fits too)
Classic Cap:
-- Easy to screw on and off.
-- Does not leak.
-- Loop makes it easy to carry or hook onto something using a carabiner.
-- Easy to clean.
Flip-Up Spout style cap:
-- Easy to screw on and off.
-- Does not leak most of the time. You can have the spout up, turn the bottle upside down and it will not leak (however just don't pinch the spout in that position).
-- You can drink from it without turning the bottle upside-down. I've found this very handy/safer when drinking from it while driving.
-- Great for toddlers who know how to drink from a straw. My toddler figured out the bite & sip technique quickly and now I don't have to worry about her spilling water (as I did when she used to drink from an uncapped wide mouth bottle).
-- Somewhat easy to clean. Yes, it takes a little more effort because of the extra parts but I'm already used to it from having cleaned valves/straws from DD's sippy/straw cups anyway.
-- Loop makes it easy to carry or hook onto something using a carabiner.
-- You don't have to worry about spout/straw lifespan as you can buy a replacement kit (which comes with one bite valve and two straws).
500 mL / 16 oz bottle:
-- Great for all purpose use around the house, in the car, office, gym, day trips, etc.
-- Fits car cup holder.
-- Fits well in hand.
-- Perfect size for my toddler to hold. She uses it in the car with the flip-up spout and can drink from it without spilling.
750 mL / 25 oz bottle:
-- Great for day trips, hiking, etc. when you may want to carry a little more water.
-- Good size for gripping with one hand.
1000 mL / 32 oz bottle:
-- Great for day trips, hiking, etc.
-- Great capacity when you need lots of water.
-- A little harder to hold with one hand when full. I wish it had some sort of grip designed into it to make it easier to hold.
I highly recommend these bottles and I would definitely buy any of these bottles again. You can't go wrong.

The design of the cap does allow it to leak. The rubber gasket is designed to press against the air intake valve (not not the bite valve) and to pull in to the bottle to maintain pressure. If, when you tip the crazy sucker upside down and it leaks, fiddle with the rubber gasket. Once seated properly, it returns to doing the job it was designed for: keeping the liquid in and allowing air in. Basic physics and a little bit of maintenance stops the drip. Try it and be at ease.

I was excited to get this nice looking, bite tube water bottle for the gym and at home. After filling it with water, I tipped it over so see if it leaks... and it has a dripping problem. That, I can somewhat live with. But I set it on my table, and when I came back to it, the table was wet! It seems to build pressure and force the water right up and out the bite valve! I wont buy another.

I bought one of these with the bite valve cap for my daughter. To my surprise Camelbak bottle that is advertised as BPA free with bite valve actually has weird smell and taste that did not go away. This seems to be due to Bite Valve/straw which seems to be made of silicone or rubber. The smell was unpleasant so have decided to switch to the classic cap one bottle and have purchased HumanGear cap that makes fits both Camelbak and Nalgene bottles and makes it easy to drink.

I purchased this bottle because it was BPA free and I haven't been able to find many water bottles BPA free that aren't glass or aluminum. I love it! I have a 32 oz and a 16 oz. I bought 8 more for hostess gifts. I haven't experienced the rubber taste some have complained of from the mouth valve nor have any of the people I have given the bottle. I highly recommend it.

I really like this bottle. I got 4, 2 for me and 2 for hubby, and he LOVES his. I did notice the bite valve tasted like the valve on a pool float at first but after a couple of washes that went away. We don't have problems with leaking and the bottles are easy to clean. Be sure you disassemble the whole lid/straw/bite valve when cleaning, or you may end up with yucky scum in there. We have a basket in our dishwasher for baby bottle pieces that works perfectly.

I bought this for my daughter and her friend for their lunch boxes and it's a hit with the other kids. The size is perfect and the colors make drinking water fun for the kids. Now the other kids are asking for them too. It's a great start towards reducing the number of plastic water bottles being used. I have purchased several of these bottles in different sizes for friends and family. The no drip and spill top makes it office and computer friendly.

My wife bought this to use as a general purpose water bottle. When the bottle is left in a hot car, the air pocket above the water level expands and creates pressure which pushes the liquid up the tube. As soon as the bottle valve is opened, the liquid discharges. Camelbak clearly did not do their homework on this one. We are returning the bottle to REI.

Was an avid Nalgene user ... for us and the kids. Bought this for my son who is too old for sippy's but will spill open mouth bottles in the car occasionally. LOVE IT! Bought one for everyone, including my 1 1/2 year old!
