The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Kahtoola MICROspikes Traction System:
Not that this product needs anymore outstanding reviews, but these spikes are game changers. If you are hiking in mountains in spring or a transition season you would be foolish not to bring these along. Sure you can make it up snow covered ice-luge style trails without these, but why? Strap a pair of these on to some waterproof shoes w/ Gaiters and don't ever let the weather keep you inside.
On another note, these also work great on rock. They hold me going downward up to 60 degrees on flat rock. Extremely durable.
If you are considering yaktrax; don't. I returned three pairs of destroyed yaktrax runners before i realized that Microspikes are the way to go if you're dealing with harsh terrain.

Comments about Kahtoola MICROspikes Traction System:
These provide amazing grip on flat or slightly hilly packed/icy terrain. Relatively easy to put on and off. On the heavy side at almost a pound, but worth it if the conditions are appropriate. I keep them in a DIY stuff sack and break them out when needed. These fit my mid hiking boots fine, but are a little too small for my snow boots - it would be great if the XL size could fit a wider range of boots. No complaints otherwise, they work great!

I keep these in my pack all winter, just in case, and more than once they have been lifesavers--allowing me to go on, when others turn back.

I've been snowshoeing for years, but always had trouble with packed snow or when hiking early or late in the season when there is little snow and a lot of ice. Problem solved! These microspikes have transformed the way I winter hike. They weigh almost nothing and pack small. When not using them, I clip them to my backpack and the hardly jingle. I've hiked all over Western MA and the White Mountains in NH with these spikes. They have amazing grip on ice and packed snow. These spikes are so awesome that I've had 4 friends buy them after the watched me using them. Do yourself a favor and buy these spikes!

I was looking for something better than the norm. when I went to Nome for the Iditarod for hard pack ice and hard pack snow. Light weight versital and easy to use. I have also used them walking across frozen lakes and walks around mtn camp sites very nice..

Comments about Kahtoola MICROspikes Traction System:
I used these while hiking a section of the AT this winter. Initially, I tired the Yak Trax, but when the trail conditions deteriorated beyond the light use of the Yak Trax, I was happy that I brought these in addition. They are lightweight and easy to slip on over your hiking boots. The added traction they provided was priceless. They eliminated the slippery aspect from the hard pack and icy sections of the travel and allowed the hike to continue with ease. They are not a substitute or replacement for snowshoes, but they are a Godsend for the icy, packed powder and mixed trail conditions. Plus, they are great quality and American made!

This was much easier to put on and more comfortable to use than my in-step crampons and can be worn through dry patches too. Traction was great.

Easy enough to get on and off even in single digit temps with gloves on. When the trail turned mixed with snow and exposed rocks, I was worried about bending or damaging the spikes (I weigh 200lbs) no damage whatsoever so far. compare that to a pair of yak trax that broke on my 115lb wife after less than four miles. get some!!!

These make my heart melty. I am reviewing them after using them through the Colorado winter and I can say that these are a staple in my day pack.
They have kept me sure-footed in varying alpine conditions. These have pretty much replaced my snowshoes unless we have just been dumped on.
When hiking after a storm, when the trail has turned icy in spots, I usually hike up in just boots and then put on my spikes for the hike down.
Anyways, stop being a cheapskate and buy them, you won't regret it.

Went hiking on the Mt and just past the 5 mile mark discovered there was still snow and ice. Popped these babies on and was able to cruise right up! Well worth the price and they're good for pea gravel too.
