Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked great for me... This review is being written as I buy my second pair of these boots, I am sadly retiring my first pair at over 4000 miles carrying apr 300 lbs between me and gear,I live near Yosemite park and have beat these them wet, slid down terrible gullies and basically abused the heck out of them....for me they were a 2day break in, some issues you do need to stay on top of.....while the boots are waterproof, they are leather and without constant repeated water sealing the leather will dry out and crack, and quite honestly if I had done a better job of this I would still be wearing my first pair still, I let them get wet and dry to many times and finally the boot separated from sole at the side toe box, after 4000 miles the center lugs in bottom are worn through to the black main sole, but still grabbed well. So to some it up I have used a lot of boots over the years some lighter, some expedition boots that were heavier i have been completely satisfied with the boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Watch my VIDEO REVIEW ON YOUTUBE! Watch my VIDEO REVIEW on YouTube!!: I like the shoe so far, took it on a rugged 3 day backpacking trip to the mountains, through a lot of rocky areas. Very durable, keep their shape and support. Feet feel very stable in these boots. I did aquire some blisters, but I practically did not break them in before, so I deserved that. The full grain leather is awesome. When that is scratched off, then you have "suede" lather left! Also, vibram soles are supper durable. Goretex is a must at this price. I would recommend these boots, after break-in, they should last at least 10 years! SEE MY VIDEO REVIEW, link above.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best boots EVER. I live in Southern California, close to Idyllwild. I try to put 20+ miles on the local trails every week. From the moment I put the Vioz GT on it was comfortable. No break in at all. From dust to mud to rocky terrain they have performed beautifully. They are extremely well made. For me they are just the right stiffness and weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Water-Blocking Lace-Eaters I'll be purchasing another pair of Zamberlan Vioz boots now that I've worn through my first pair. I've been especially pleased with the boots' resistance to water: despite the gaping hole in the leather of my left boot, when I stomp through creeks, the water only slowly filters through to my sock. My right boot, whose leather remains intact, still keeps my toes dry. Note that these boots do eat through bootlaces. I go through a pair of laces per year by hiking or doing trail maintenance on average once per week. But keeping an extra bootlace in your pack isn't a big deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Possibly the best boots on earth At first, I thought these boots were funny-looking. I actually tried on all the other brands designed for heavy backpacking because I was reluctant to try these because they looked different. I asked the gal to bring out a pair just to reaffirm the choice I had made. The second I slid my foot into the first boot, I was amazed at how it hugged my foot. From that moment, there was no turning back. I tend to carry a heavy pack, normally about 75 pounds, on top of my 200+ pounds of body. I go thru boots quickly because the weight and miles. These boots feel so stout and comfortably supportive; I can't see using a different brand, ever. I've trekked more miles than I can count, thru the Light Infantry (which is anything other than light), being a Fireman in the city and in the brush, and a life of being outdoors. I've had more boots than I can count as well. These top every one. I've had numerous ankle injuries, and these have support and stability in that department as well. I was a bit torn on size though. I ended up with a pair that was a little more snug than I thought prudent, but after reading a few reviews, that is what I chose. I can happily say, they fit and function perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from they are doing the job i have hiked mt thielsen and the south sister in these boots. mt thielsen had a lot of scree and it pretty much scuffed the heck out of the boots. i hope it is superficial and i get a couple years out of these boots. the traction is great. stability is great. had some hot spots on my heal during the first hike, but only a small blister formed. that was july 20th. when i hiked the south sister on aug 3rd, they were super comfortable with no hot spots. i blame myself for scuffing them up... i guess that is what happens when you go scree surfing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Listen to your feet It's amazing not to have blisters! My finicky blister prone feet have found a match and I'm looking forward to miles and years in these boots. After hours in the store trying on boots I narrowed my choice down to Zamberlan Vios GT, ASOLO TPS 520 and Scarpa SL M3. I bought the ASOLO TPS 520 and followed proper break in techniques but still had problems so back to REI they went. The 520's appear to be great boots just not for me. Enter the most comfortable boot I've ever wore, Zamberlan Vios GT. I've wore these through most of the summer and I couldn't be more pleased. I wanted to wait to write a review until I had some miles on them. The Full-Grain leather is banged up from the trail but that's what I bought them for and there's no degradation in performance. I didn't like the rocker sole in the store but it's a different story on the trail. I usually put Superfeet in my boots but found the original inserts more comfortable. Break in was minimal; actually they felt so good I skipped a few steps. They provide great traction and support; better than most on wet rocks and perfect for carrying a load over sharp terrain. My feet don't ache at the end of the day and they've never gotten wet. Yes they're heavier than trail runners but provide more support. I've used them in Oregon and Alaska and my feet didn't get excessively hot and stayed warm during spring snows. I wish they came with the rubber rand found on other boots, it's a small gripe I'm willing to live with. Listen to your feet and don't get wrapped up in sizes. ASOLO support gave me this sagely advice when I contacted them about the 520's: "First let's make sure you are in the correct length boot. With your hiking socks on put your foot into the unlaced boot. Then push your foot forward till your toes just touch the front and make sure you stand up since your weighted foot is often longer. Then stick a finger down the boot behind your heel ?? sometimes easier to have someone else do this so you do not tip over. You should have one finger space of extra room in the boot. If there is wiggle room then the boot is too big."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect boot. So comfortable it can be wore all the time. you will experiance more moisture produced from within the boot, although the goretex deals with that suprisingly well. I would recomend you try on several pair to find the perfect pair, some are a little irregular.
