The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about SmartWool PhD Outdoor Light Crew Socks:
Socks felt great during a 3 day hike in Montana but started to fray and had wisps of wool coming off at the sides of the socks by the end of the 3 day 15 mile hike.
I can't find anything in the Lowa Renegade II boots I was wearing that would have caused this. Both socks also had the wear.
I've heard great things about smartwool and I have heard both at REI and other places that these are their best socks. Bummer.
I'll be checking out icebreaker, ibex and darn tough merino socks next.
I've had super cheap cotton socks I have gotten as a gift last over a year being used nearly 2x a week. These socks showed signs of wear after 3 days. I'm really surprised.

Comments about SmartWool PhD Outdoor Light Crew Socks:
I never thought I would be in love with a pair of socks, but these really are awesome. [...] they are absolutely the best socks I've ever worn. I have worn them hundreds of times(and washed them of course) and they still look and feel brand new. They stay dry (wicking) and fit perfect. They are costly, but well worth the price. These are the only socks you'll want to wear after you try them.

Comments about SmartWool PhD Outdoor Light Crew Socks:
I am currently deployed to Afghanistan. I have been using these socks for months now. These are by far the best socks I've used. They don't have to be changed as often as standard issued wool socks. I have yet to get a single blister while wearing these socks. They are a bit pricey, but definitely well deserved.

Make sure you file your big toenail as it will cut through the sock if sharp.

Comments about SmartWool PhD Outdoor Light Crew Socks:
I do 13-20 mile hikes most every weekend on some rugged trails and I went through several pairs of socks and liners trying to find a pair that didn't blister or bunch. Nothing ever came close until I came across the PhD sock. The fit is amazing in that the sock hugs your foot in all the right places and it never sags or bunches in the toes of your boots. I could not imagine being happier with a pair a socks, and that makes the outlandish price worth it.
A word of caution: be sure you get the PhD socks, not the smartwool hikers--those are about the worst socks I ever wore hiking as they continually bunched in the toes.

Comments about SmartWool PhD Outdoor Light Crew Socks:
Great socks - excellent fit, they don't bunch up around my toes like just about every other sock. Excellent moisture wicking. They get a little frizzy after wearing/washing a couple times, but still hold their stretch well.

Comments about SmartWool PhD Outdoor Light Crew Socks:
Best pair of socks I own. Totally worth the money. The other smartwool socks I have cheap out on the elastic, but these puppies hug my feet wash after wash. The softness, the good elasticity, and the padding under the ball and hell seal the deal on these. Buy 'em.

Best wool socks I have owned. I use them mountain biking and for daily use (I spend a lot of time outdoors in my job). They are always comfortable and they wear well.

The other reviewers have it right. I am having trouble wearing my other socks now because they pale in comparison. These are amazing. Keep my feet dry and odorless in my hiking boots all day.

Comments about SmartWool PhD Outdoor Light Crew Socks:
Incredibly good fit, doesn't bunch up during strenuous hikes, handles moisture incredibly well - my feet never got damp or clammy.
They're expensive, but worth the price. They are also much better than older smartwool socks.
