Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
I'm Torn... this is the most comfortable pair of shoes i have ever owned. Unfortunately i have gone through 4 of 5 pairs in 2yrs. On my 1st pair the stitching came apart. The other pairs had problems with the treads coming unglued and the lace loops breaking which ultimately made the shoe unusable. The average life of the shoe for me was 3-5 months. I use them as everyday shoes mostly indoors on concrete and carpet. No hiking/climbing. I would expect more from a [$]shoe. It just kills me that they are so comfortable.

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
I have the last color model but other than color, it's the exact same boot. Bought mine at the REI store in May 08.
I went hiking in near Vegas this last May in Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire. The Targhee performed very well. I bought the shoes about 2 days prior to hiking so I had zero break in time. The Targhee really needed no break in period and fit perfectly right out of the box and were very comfortable. Traction was great and the support was very nice. The boot is a little hot but I was also in 100 degree weather so I'm not sure anything would have felt that cool.
The one issue I have with this boot is that the soles already show some minor wear. Nothing major but I did not expect to see that much wear after only about 15 hours of hiking. I suspect they would hold up much better in non rocky terrain.
Final Verdict? I'm sticking with them because they are just sooooo comfortable. I don't mind a little extra wear in exchange for a nice comforable and cushy ride. I have a fairly wide foot and they fit just right and are pretty close to true sizing.

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
I love these boots and I love Keen. I have owned this pair of boots for about one and a half years (probably about 35 backpacking trips).
These boots are the most comfortable boots I have ever put my feet into. I use them for day hikes and backpacking. I generally carry 25-30lbs when backpacking and these boots work perfectly.
My keen's haven't ever let water in. I have stood in streams with them and not one drop of water gets in. The first time I did it I thought that they where leaking because after a few seconds I felt a cold flood around my feet. I got out and pulled my boot off and my sock was completely dry... What I had felt was the coldness of the water coming thru my boots and socks but no water came in. Now I tend to stand in the streams when i get to them to cool my feet off.
My girlfriend got sick of hearing me tell her how much I like them so she decided to try them. She had cycled through about 5 different boots (other brands) and had avoided Keens because of their appearance. She loves them as much as I do now...

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
I have to say that I was not that knowledgeable about shoes/boots when I bought these. They were recommended for a hike with full pack on the AT through the Smokey's. Not what these boots are for! Killed my feet and I was able to stop before major injury. Not the boots fault, but I say that to say this, these are light hikers. I weight 200 pounds and carry upwards of a 60 pound pack. These boots are not for that. You feel every little rock and bump in the trail and there is little to no stiffness in the sole for support.
I do however where these for very light hiking and everyday use and they are WONDERFUL! The most comfortable boot I've worn. Light, easy on and off. The size is true to form. Keen is the only brand I can buy off the internet and know that it will fit and fit right.
I have had no wear problems and these have held up well. I have had them for about 8 months now. Would I buy another pair, yes, would I recommend them, yes, but know what you are wearing them for.

I liked the boots at first....bought them for me and my daughter....But I've got 200 miles backpacking on them and they are falling apart. Ok maybe that's not too bad but they have not been waterproof from the start. My daughters pair, with considerably less use is comming apart at a sewn seam.

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
These were my first experiment with Keen. The boot fit great, and felt good on the foot. I took it for an afternoon hike though and it just didn't hold up. They were very hot and didn't breathe at all. That, and the fact that they leaked in just a brief creek hoping; was enough to convince me to return them. I'm sure they would be great for around town or on campus, but they definitely aren't something I would want on my feet eight miles back and in a rainstorm.

Easily the most comfortable shoes/boots I've ever worn. The arch support and width make them great for anyone who feels like most shoes are a little narrow.
I've never had any trouble with water. They seem to be holding up to lots of abuse. And... They have a nice casual look so they can serve just as well as day-to-day shoes and not just hiking boots.

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
This is my second pair, and they're going back this week. The first pair lasted about 6 months before the waterproof liner failed. I figured it was a bum pair, so I exchanged them for the same think. Another 6 months later, and this pair has failed also. They are showing very little wear, so there must be something wrong with the design or the manufacturing process.
These boots fit great, but they just don't keep the water out.

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
These boots are on the narrow side for my insanely wide foot. I wear a 14 6E shoe and many times that size can be a little narrow. The boots are advertised as waterproof which they definately are not. I've had boots in the past that could be partially submerged overnight with no inside dampness. Even though these are supposed to be waterPROOF they were soaked through within a half hour. Also the laces that came with the boot didn't fit the boot, they were too short. These boots probably would make it through some light rain but any more than that or puddles forget about it. Water resistant yes, waterproof not the slightest. If you don't mind the lack of true waterproofing they'd make an ok everyday work boot.

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
This is simply a great pair of boots. They required virtually no break-in time, and they fit comfortably with lots of room in the toe (as Keens are known to).
I've taken these boots on day hikes, caving, and use them on rainy days. Even through large puddles and lakes of mud, they remained dry. The traction is great, and the boot is very durable considering how light it is. And the price can't be beat!
Highly recommended!
