Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect I'm a biologist working in the desert and good boots are essential on the sharp, rocky terrain. These boots are probably the best fitting boot I've worn. I needed a new pair immediately and I wore them in the field for an 8 hour shift without breaking them in first. I didn't have a single sore spot on my either of my feet. After a month of wearing them for long 12-16hr days I still have no foot complaints. They even were comfortable when I had blisters from a pair of sandals I only wore for for a few hours. However, I did notice that the parts of the soles with the lighter, more spongy material were pretty beat up after just that 1st day. The desert rocks are harsh on the stuff, causing cuts in the material. I love them for the fit but don't expect them to last more than a year working out there. If you tend to stay on maintained trails or in less sharp environments I'm sure they would wear slower. Other notes: I cannot comment on their waterproofing; I don't encounter much water out there. They tend to run small. I'm normally a 7.5-8 but had to get 8.5 in these, and that's not even wearing big hiker socks you'd need in cold weather. But, who cares what the # says?! They're an awesome fit when you have the right size on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice and comfortable I used these to go hunting with my husband and they were great. My feet stayed dry and warm in the Oregon rain and my feet felt great after hours of hiking. These are wide enough that my toes didn't feel pinched with wool socks on and my feet also didn't get hot. The only thing that bothered me was that the toung of the shoe does not come high enough to keep the laces off of your ankle when laces up. It wasn't uncomfortable while hiking but I thought it was weird. Also, they squeaked when walking on wet grass (not so good while hunting) but had good traction. I would totally buy them again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best all-terrain boot for my wide feet! These are my second pair of these boots...first pair served me very well, nearly 4 years before the stitching started to pull apart. They kept my feet very happy and dry over 6 memorable hikes in Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park, about 100+ other day hikes across Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Iowa, and Australia, along with various other boot weather outings. These boots are suited for those of us with wider feet. And, as expected, I had to jump up a full size to accommodate my wool socks and liners. The one thing I appreciated with this updated model were the laces...the last model had very short laces that kept coming untied, even when I double tied them. This model has some type of "gripping" on the lace itself and they're super they stay tied! I've also noticed the tongue of the boot is a bit uncomfortable (tight, really in that area) seems to be getting better the more I wear them (I don't tie them tightly at the moment), so I'm hoping this will go away with wear.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poorly made ankle cushion..... I have very wide feet and was happy to find these boots which had good toe box space. After a short hike, I felt my left boot was rubbing against my left ankle bone. At first, I barely noticed it, but after a couple of hours, it became very painful. My right foot stayed very comfortable and pain-free. After 2 more days of trying to break in the left boot, I still felt the pain. Then, I took off the boots and compared the left and right boot very closely and realized that the left boot has got at least 1cm longer ankle support than right boot, and this excess fabric has created the pain. When I compared right and left shoes closely, I also notice how uneven they were. This is my first Keen product purchase so I can't tell if it was just my pure luck that I received a defective product, or they generally have poor quality. I'm not interested to try another pair from them for an experiment. It's too bad because other part of the boots felt wonderful. I also noticed these boots were very warm, could be too warm for summer hike.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable hiking These boots have a wider foot pad than some and this is what I was looking for. On a recent hike in Tuolumne Meadows with some new snow I was the only person of our group of three that ended up with dry insides to my boots. Great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delivered as advertised I got these hiking boots to replace an all-leather pair that did nothing for my feet but add weight, give me blisters and slowed me down considerably. After reading up on the specs for the Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots, I decided to go with them firstly because they were the right color. Yes, I am obsessive about green. The next reason is the fact that my feet are pretty choosy and the design of these boots looked like they would be friendly for the needs of my feet...wider at the front, high enough to support my hosed-up ankles but not too high to be an irritant to my Achilles tendons (have been prone to injury since the second serious sprain). I can deal with just about any pain in my feet, except for the pain of high-backed shoes rubbing at my Achilles tendons! That said, breaking in these boots didn't take long, and I am very happy to say they did exactly what the specs said they would do...provide my feet with solid yet light-weight protection and support for hiking around the Colville National Forest and try out a portion of the Salmo-Priest Wilderness Loop (yep, trying not to do too much after being so sedentary for too long). As my fiancé encouraged, we were there to enjoy not race, and these boots were just the ticket. These boots stayed on my feet, provided good traction even on slippery shale (still stay cautious), withstood tromping through low-water creeks, firm ankle support on the way down on uneven and rocky trail, and maximized the effectiveness of the moisture-wicking function of my socks. And best of all, NO BLISTERS!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Fit These boots were so comfortable the whole time I was hiking through Yellowstone and Custer State Park. They are great on gravelly trails. I felt sure footed going up and coming down. I was so happy that these came in a wide width. Most of the boots I tried on only came in medium width. I could wear my thick cushy socks with no problem. My weak ankles felt well supported.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I LOVE KEEN! I hike 15 - 20 miles a week in the hills & mountains around my area, and I love Keen's wider toe box, as I suffer from Morton's neuroma in both feet. I returned the first pair because they squeaked terribly. Tho I could only hear it indoors or when not on the noisy, crunchy trail, it was annoying. The new pair is perfect! I have 4 different Keen styles, & I love them all! Keen tends to run small, so I always get at least a half size larger; whole size larger in the hikers due to socks & the neuroma condition.
