by fromstitching doesn't hold out disappointing I used these boots for some light summer hiking and then put them away, I pulled them out last week for a short hike and found after the 2nd mile the stitching was giving out. I put less them 50 miles into these boots and expected them to last a lot longer them they have.

by fromHurts your ankles The foot of the boot is very comfortable, but the ankle support digs into you. After trying to break them in by wearing them to do errands around town, I found that affected my Achilles heel. I tested it with a $50 insert in a store, which put the pressure off the heel, but the fact that I had to buy it in order to possibly make it work made me just return the shoes.

by fromComfortable, but not well made I loved these boots until 6 months into wearing them 3 of the lace loops broke in 2 days! Clearly this is a design fault (lace loops are made of two fabrics that are sown together - creating a weak point). I will be returning these boots for a different brand.

by fromnot impressed The craftsmanship of these shoes did not impress me in the store, but they felt fairly comfortable, so I took them home and wore them around in the house for a few days. They irritated the tops of my feet and were not comfortable around my bunion. It was also difficult to keep the laces tied properly over the bulging shoe tongue. I decided not to keep them.

by fromGood in some ways, not in others These boots are sturdy, tough, and very water/mud resistant. The protection over the toes is nice and protects your feet. However, they are also big and clunky, so it was ackward hiking through the woods on the rocky paths I was on. They were also kind of slippery on rocks. It depends what you plan to use these for - if you will be doing activities that require agility, these are not the boots. If you just need tough, water resistant boots and won't be balancing on rocks, these might work for you.

by fromTripping hazard After only a month of hikes and perhaps 100 miles, I unfortunately have to return the boots. On four occasions, the boot lace hook caught in the designed seam opening on the opposite boot, causing me to trip while hiking. Today's fall and injury was enough to convince me the comfort of the boots was not worth the hazard.

by fromGreat for 2 years I got these boots in early 2007 and used them for a variety of things: fun hikes with friends, hikes for school, field work. But mostly field work. Primarily, this meant walking through grassland terrain, frequently moist with dew or rain. For the first year, these boots were AWESOME - totally waterproof, utterly comfortable, light weight, and cute too! Unfortunately, in the second year of use, they started to lose their water-repellent abilities. Also, around 2.5 years, the black part of the sole started to peel off on both boots! I had to superglue them back on. Ultimately, if you are a true light hiker, these would be a fabulous choice of footwear; for something that would handle more wear and tear, I would probably look elsewhere (unless you are willing to buy new boots every year or two).

by fromGreat fit, not totally waterproof Have had this boot for about 5 months now. Great in summer (light socks) and fall, can handle rain and mild puddles. But have had them in the snow about 3 times now - not hiking in the snow, just walking in a snowy parking lot. The top of the boot, near the toes, is wet inside from the snow just sitting on the boot. I still love them though! I have a 7.5 tennis shoe and got the 7.5 boot. Could have done ok going a half-size larger for a beefier sock, but they fit well and were easy to break in.
