Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Men's:
Mountain Hardware made a fantastic jacket at an amazing price. This jacket is amazing durable, warm, and packs small. This jacket was a life saver while alpine climbing in Rocky Mountain National Park as well as many days warming my core after kayaking in the frigid waters of the Arkansas River in Colorado. This jacket made me a big fan of down. Even if the the temperature approaches freezing, I take this jacket.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Men's:
This is a great jacket, but for only $[$]more you can get a truly world-class jacket - the Mountain Hardwear Sub-Zero SL Hooded Jacket. Although this one was warm, it wasn't quite warm enough. It isn't waterproof and for the temperatures this thing is designed for, the lack of a hood is a big problem. My recommendation is to spend a bit extra money and get a MUCH nicer jacket.

You have to be careful not to use the heated seats in the car with this on or you'll be cooking. Extremely warm, great for extended periods out in the cold. It's a bit bulky, but you know that going into it.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Men's:
I got this jacket for less than $100 on sale. I went on a winter trip w/out down and this is what drove me to get a down jacket. I'm very happy with this coat. Even when the temps dip close to zero I'm comfy just hanging out. When home, put this on and walk the dog with just a t-shirt on under and I'm toasty. I could see the use for a hood, but then I'd have to just get the next size up. I hope the jacket holds up, so far, so good. Makes me want to go winter camping more than ever. Now I just have to find one for my wife.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Men's:
I like the jacket, it's very nice and fairly warm. The North face equivalent for [$] is warmer - if you're looking for max warmth. It's 700 fill versus the 650 fill on this one. I've owned the North face for years, it's a bit stained, but still going strong. You'd be surprised at the difference. North face has warmer collar as well.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Men's:
Took this to the top of Siler Bald NC. It got down to about 20 and I put this on with only a base layer below it. I warmed up in about a minute and stayed comfortable the whole time. I am not surprised considering it is Mountain Hardware. If you need a jacket that without a doubt will keep you warm then go for it and it includes a stuff sack so you can pack it when you do not need it.
