The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Thule Transporter - Combi Hitch:
It stored 100 lbs of extra belongings that would have had to go in the back of our SUV. The downfall of this item is that it needs to be unloaded to tilt down. Thus trying to get the dog out of the back was a chore.

Comments about Thule Transporter - Combi Hitch:
We also drive an GMC Acadia which, with the back row seat up, leaves about enough storage room for a large sack lunch, forget a weekend trip. This carrier has made it possible for our family to make cross country trips. It is quite spacious and driving is vastly better than a rooftop carrier when used alone in terms of aerodynamics and gas mileage especially in windier areas (though it does add a little bounce over poor roads.) With 3 daughters I usually up using both a rooftop and this cargo box but I digress. After 18 months and over 20,000 miles of use I have no concerns about the durability of this box. This thing is pretty sturdy. The frame that supports the bottom is a combination of a 2 inch square steel mains with 1 1/4 inch supports. Did I mention its big? My 12 year old can fit in it easily. (Tempting but never tried.) Unfortunately, when its off your car its also huge and somewhat awkward to store. The trailer hitch comes off the bottom and leaves the unit unbalanced and sort of tippy. I haven't yet figured out how to suspend it so it sits on some 2X4's in the corner of the garage. It can be mounted by one person as I usually do, but lining up the retention bolt can be tedious. I don't really have any concerns regarding having anyone steal this thing. Fully loaded and mounted it would take two good sized men to pull this out and run with it. Think a treasure chest sized box weighing 150 lbs. I suppose it could be cut open but windows can be broken too. I've never had the bolt loosen during use and usually carry a 3/4 in box wrench to remove it. The biggest issue i've experienced is the locking mechanism. The box has to be locked to remove the key. During some of the nastier winter storms I've had the lock freeze up. Placing a piece of duct tape over the lock and keeping a lighter handy has been a decent work around. I would definitely recommend this.

Adds quite a bit more space, and allowing it to fold away is convient when accessing the back of the suv. It bolts in the hitch. Thats good for noise control, but I would like to be able to lock it to the vehicle.

provides added storage for you VW Westfalia. Have used on trips to Mexico and 5 week trip to southern Utah. Not a single problem after five years of use.

Comments about Thule Transporter - Combi Hitch:
We have five in our family and packing our GMC Acadia was a bit of a puzzle. We would fill every inch of space, even for long weekend trips. We recently purchased the Thule Transporter Combi and we love it. Packing the car is so easy and we have so much more room! We can even travel with our BOB Dualie now which we were having to leave at home because we just couldn't fit everything. The box is easy to install and with the snug-tite lock it is securely locked on the hitch. It does make our vehicle longer but we found we've fit fine in every spot we parked. Loading the box is very easy and since the box tilts you still have access to the back of your vehicle. We did learn not to pack the heavy stuff all on one side because the box will tilt. Even when we did this we didn't have any problems with the box we just noticed a tilt. We are very happy with our purchase.

Comments about Thule Transporter - Combi Hitch:
[...] There's no place to lock the unit to the trailer hitch. I don't like the fact that it's just a single screw that keeps it attached to the car. 2-3 turns of the screw and it's loose. Can easily be stolen in less than 10 secs!!! Total weight it can handle is 165lbs. Don't think so. We put up to 150lbs and the shell seemed like it was going to come off the frame. I think with long travel, and some bumps here and there, this unit will NOT last. Quality isn't that great. Material is thin. [...] Keep in mind this thing adds about 3-4ft to the length of your vehicle when parking.
