Comments about The North Face Surge Computer Pack:
This is a great backpack. I wear it biking to work everyday in the Pacific Northwest and it stands up to the constant rain and mud (easy to clean). Its versatile, has more than enough pockets, and has a perfect compartment for notebooks, books, etc aside from the compartment for your laptop (so many out there don't!) The straps are comfortable and its great on your back. If you are looking for something that is versatile without being big and bulky, this is the pack for you. One thing-not sure why they put the handle towards the middle part of the top of the pack, and not at the top against the back. Works great for carrying with your hand, but not hanging on a hook.
Service and delivery comments:
Unfortunately it wasn't carried at the local REI store, so I had it shipped there. Received it on time with no problems!

Comments about The North Face Surge Computer Pack:
This is the best bag I've found to haul around all my junk to and from school. It is comfortable, and the weight distributes well. I really liked that there is a separate pocket for my laptop, and not just a sleeve, like many other bags. My biggest complaint is that the front pocket is virtually useless, and the vertical zippers make it hard to access with one hand.

Comments about The North Face Surge Computer Pack:
I have been looking for a solid backpack that has a waist strap to relieve pressure on the upper back when needed and that has compression straps that can be used to flatten the backpack when it is not full of items. I like that the computer fits in its own compartment that is suspended (not touching the bottom of the bag). It is also lighter and less cumbersome than my Samsonite wide bottom backpack that doesn't have a waist strap or compression straps.
CONS
The front pocket is created by 2 vertical zippers...and doesn't have much room. Also it doesn't stand up on its own; I have to lean it against something.
But overall, I would vote for this bag as a great, rugged & functional computer backpack.

Comments about The North Face Surge Computer Pack:
This backpack is great! It even holds my 15.4 HP laptop w/ extended battery. I treated this backpack with nikwax to up the weatherproofness. The waist straps really do help in transfering some of the weight of the pack onto your hips; it helped me bear the weight of the extended battery.

Comments about The North Face Surge Computer Pack:
This is a great pack. I bought the previous version of this pack. Its side pockets are large enough for thermos/ water bottle. Power supply pocket is great too. I take it everywhere. Works great for when riding my mt. bike or commuting on my motorcycle. With the side cinch straps, front chest, and waist straps it pulls the load in close enough that is does not throw me off balance.

If you are looking for the ulitmate-small-size-computer pack, this is it! I use this pack more than my wallet, and it has proved awesome! The hip strap is thin but sure helps when you have to hike a bit more than you expected. The laptop sleeve is great and I even like the dedicated power cable storage at the bottom.

Great for any sized lap top plus you can fit tons of stuff is the main pocket. But your back can get sweaty because Sheree is no ventilation in the back.

Comments about The North Face Surge Computer Pack:
This is a great replacement for my old laptop backpack. I've decided that i just can't do the cool messenger bag with a laptop in it every day. This pack is much lighter than my old one and the pockets and storage are laid out quite well without making you dig for places to stash all the right stuff. the small pocket on the shoulder straps could be larger to accomodate a BB or iPhone but I love that the waist belt tucks away when you don't want it. It's just a very comfortable and lightweight pack with the storage I'm looking for. It doesn't go overboard on styling but looks great

Comments about The North Face Surge Computer Pack:
I really like this pack. I use it for carrying my laptop to and from school. The only con that I can give it is that it doesn't have as much room as I would like for books. Besides that, it has good protection for my laptop and it has a convenient zipper pocket at the bottom of the bag to hold my laptop power cords. Love the bag.
