Comments about REI Camp Cup with Clip Grip:
Talk about a cup!! This is the cupiest cup I've ever cupped coffee in. It holds every ounce of liquid I put up in her like a champ. It can't be stopped it's like they were designing a bomb prof container then half way through they lost all motivation and decided to put a lid on it and call it good, and boy was it good. You could put whatever liquid you want in this cup throw it in a cage with a silver back gorilla and it wouldn't lose a drop, and it's stylish.

Comments about REI Camp Cup with Clip Grip:
This cup looked like a perfect insulated mug for hiking and for daily use on the way to work. However, it was horrible. It dripped no matter where you put your lips on the cup, no matter how you tried to sip from it. I thought maybe I had purchased a joke coffee mug. Poor design.

Comments about REI Camp Cup with Clip Grip:
I really like this STAINLESS mug. I was not going to get this mug due to the some of the bad reviews. Since I did get the stainless mug I have been very pleased. I have had and use this mug every day for over a year now and is still perfect. I primarily use this mug for coffee in the morning before work. I have taken it back country camping several times. Although I call myself a minimalist, you can't take this mug camping because of its size and weight but I do. More of a car camping mug. On 15 degree mornings I like my coffee to stay warm. The stainless mug does hold heat very well and I have not broken the clip YET. With the lid fully closed it will not spill from couter height. I don't have the pealing effect since I did get the stainless. I am here to buy another today.

Comments about REI Camp Cup with Clip Grip:
I really love this mug. It's durable, keeps drinks hot, has a handy carabiner clip on the handle (which is a little wobbly but it hasn't broken so who cares?) and I think the best part is how secure the lid mechanism is. I had this mug sitting on my dashboard the other day, took off too fast at a light and the mug went caroming around the inside of my car. Not a drip was spilled, and it was completely full (and heavy) of boiling hot coffee. I think a lot of the negative reviews on here are no longer applicable, except maybe about the handle and clip not feeling very durable. But like I said, it hasn't broken, so it's functioning perfectly as far as I'm concerned. The label is absolutely not sticky under any conditions, the lovely green color isn't flaking off despite some serious dings from dropping it onto concrete, and the handle is still attached and functioning as it should. I take this mug with me everywhere, though I admit it might be a bit heavy to lug along on a backpacking expedition. Get one. Or three. You won't regret it.

Comments about REI Camp Cup with Clip Grip:
Overall good mug. Great for the commute or at the office. Too heavy for backpacking but I don't really think that's the intended use. Really like how the lid secures for a no leak fit.
Overall a good buy.

Comments about REI Camp Cup with Clip Grip:
This looked promising, but two things plague this mug:
1) It just doesn't keep temperature as well as a vacuum insulated mug, the outside of the mug gets hot or cold (depending on temp of liquid inside). This is not a good sign and is validated when I go to take a sip from what was hot coffee a couple hours later and it is no longer.
2) The lip you sip from's design is terrible. There's a little shelf where liquid collects and dribbles down the mug and ultimately, you. You can try to avoid this by putting your lower lip above the shelf, but that doesn't work for hot liquids because you will burn your lip. You also have to tip way back to get liquid out, which if it's hot (first hour) you're going to burn more than your lip (under tongue, etc).
All in all not good, looked promising but makes me wonder if the REI buyers actually tried using it before slapping the REI sticker on it and calling it their own.

Comments about REI Camp Cup with Clip Grip:
This mug is amazing! It fully seals, is metal (very durable) and keeps things warm for a long time! I have had mine for over 5 years. I still use it everyday. The only downside is it doesn't fit in regular cup holders but it is pretty steady when I lay it in my center console.

Comments about REI Camp Cup with Clip Grip:
Given the weight, it is poorly insulated. The recessed sip hole requires the cup to be tipped way back in order to drink. especially when it's nearly empty, which makes it prone to dribbling. I love the wide bottom, but that's about all. Great for drinking without a lid, only, provided keeping a beverage warm is not a priority. This cup is not worth the money.

Comments about REI Camp Cup with Clip Grip:
I bought two of these, one was back ordered and I canceled the second mug after receiving the first one. The screw top takes some getting used to to properly align the flip opening. This isn't a problem with friction tops.
The flip opening itself is too bulky and doesn't stay properly.
There is no vent hole opposite on the top, and so you get a vacuum gurgling with whatever liquid you are drinking.
The clip on handle is square, is less convenient for actually clipping then the rounded handle of the older Stanley clip on mugs. I wish I could find some of those.
I've attached a photo of what was IMHO a better design. You cant find them anymore though. Stainless Steel, double walled, friction top with vent hole.

Comments about REI Camp Cup with Clip Grip:
The opening on the mug cover is not above the REI label, as shown in your photo. Since the opening is closer to the handle, it is difficult to drink coffee.
The threading is not correct.
