I have had this little guy for a few years now and it is still the light I grab when I head out anywhere I expect to be after dark. I choose it first because it has a red filter (among other colors) that flips up so I never have to cycle through bright white light to get to it (just make sure the cover is up before switching on as it can be pushed down). I used this daily on missions to protect my night vision and back on my blackout FOB (meaning no white lights visible outside after dark)in Afghanistan last year and was amazed it held up so well and the batteries lasted so long. I never needed to turn it up much beyond low.
I still use it when my hands are full flipping burgers or working on the car. A little tip since it can be a bit clunky in your pocket, when you get to camp throw it on like a necklace and it will be there for you later when it gets dark.

The variable beam adjustments are great. One of the four will work for what you're doing, otherwise you shouldn't be doing it in the dark. It has an adjustable snug fit that wobbles only little while moving around since there's only the headband.

However, after a while (about 30 min) the plastic backing gets a little annoying on the forehead. I found a backwards hat eliminates this but you lose stability.
