Comments about Osprey Ace 48 Pack - Youth:
My daughter has been using this for a year now (spanning ages 11.5-12.5) and loves it. She carries her own tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, clothes, etc... 20-25 pounds.
She carries that weight just fine with zero complaints on multiday backpacking trips including a week in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Comments about Osprey Ace 48 Pack - Youth:
This pack has many great points besides the general pros. It is also sized so that my son can carry it now (9 yrs old) until adulthood with the adjustable hipbelt and torso. I love that it came with an attached rain cover. That alone can save some $. The hipbelt is so adjustable that it can accomadate my very thin son. Worth the money!

Comments about Osprey Ace 48 Pack - Youth:
Perfect multi-day backpack for kids. I bought this pack for my son last summer when he was 10. He first used it on a 7-day, 54 mile backpack in the Sierra. He has since used it on many trips through two seasons, and has never had a complaint about comfort. It is very adjustable, and the quality is excellent, as well.

Comments about Osprey Ace 48 Pack - Youth:
After a long search for a pack that could be adjusted down to my size(4'11", 105lbs)I have been completely happy with this purchase. It holds everything I need for multi-week hikes, and although the padding appears a little thin on the shoulder straps, I have not experienced any discomfort. I have been using this pack for the last 2 years on a regular basis, and though it could probably use a good wipe down, it is still in perfect condition with no wear problems.
The small pockets on the belt are perfect for little snacks and chapstick. The water bottle pockets, though ample in size, require a certain amount of stretching and determination to access the bottle mid-hike.
There is a safety whistle integrated into the buckle on the chest strap, and list of safety procedures located on the underside of the top lid pocket.
Overall, an excellent pack for smaller ladies.

Comments about Osprey Ace 48 Pack - Youth:
I bought this pack for my daughter when she was 12 to do 50+ miles in Sequoia and Yosemite with me. This is a very comfortable and highly adjustable pack. She grew considerably since then and we readjusted it for a perfect fit each time. She's now a veteran with many miles under her hip belt. Torso adjusts easily (even on the trail). The pack is as solid and durable as you would expect from Osprey, a recognized industry leader. I was surprised that the back mesh pocket was made from material that tends to attract twigs, pine needles and other debris. Therefore, it gets dirty easy and has tendency to collect little snags (minor aesthetics, I suppose). Most youth packs are "dumbed down," meaning they lack many features serious backpackers consider essential. This is not so with Osprey; features include quality hip and shoulder straps, sternum straps, full size Nalgene-ready side pockets, hydration-compatible, ventilated and moldable padded back support, integrated rain cover, tool loops and ice axe/pole loop, and compression straps. This pack is loaded for both novice and experienced youth adventurers. This pack was designed to grow with a child in age, stature and experience level. Any youth should be proud to carry Osprey on their back.
