by fromPlease help Can you please sell something that works. Immediately these booties spin around on the paw and then the dog is worse off. A waste of money since the product does not work at all.

by fromUgh Dogs don't really like wearing booties. I understand that. I just wasn't prepared for the dog to take off her own booty within minutes of velcro-ing on. I also wasn't expecting every single booty to be torn up within 3 days of light use. The booty doesn't secure well, and often times it slips a complete 180 degrees so that the rubber sole is facing up. I am not sure how to make booties more dog friendly, but these ones are useless.

by fromThree gone after second use I was able to use these twice in the snow. The first time, the snow got really clogged around the velcro which then started to peel back. The second time my dog lost three boots. I put them on nice and tightly, but we were out in deep snow for 1.5 hours. After about an hour he lost the first one, then the second and third within another 10 minutes. The ice and snow ultimately caused the closure to fail, and pretty reliably since all three fell off within 10 minutes of each other. I was really bummed that I wasted the money on these!

by fromPOOR STRAP DESIGN Sorry REI I cannot endorse your product. Environment: Hiking in Black Forest in 1ft of fresh soft powder with a icy floor.Use: First time using product outside. Had introduced the boots to the dog a couple of days prior indoors so as to ensure fit, check reliability and make 'Fred' familiar with them. How the product FAILED. About 20 minutes into the hike I noticed one boot was missing from his front left and back right paws. The Velcro on the front right paw had backed off and was filled with snow causing the separation of material. The back left boot was still 100% intact. Due to the depth of the snow and distances covered by the dog recovering the other two boots was not an option. At no time did he pull at the boots they just came off during his running in the snow. After taking off the other two boots I messed around with the Velcro and the snow and found that as a seam developed between the two pieces the snow prevented it from coming back together. The FIX: If you own these I recommend using a piece of duck tape on the edge of the Velcro to ensure it doesn't back off. The padding material and bootie seemed to be constructed well but the securing device needs to be taken back to the design room. Unfortunately I wasted [$] but I hope you don't.Where it could work: I suspect this product would work well in dry weather on rocky/shale terrain that would otherwise tear at a dog's soft pad. However any material such as mud, snow, water will cause this product to fail.Hope this helps someone.

by fromStill searching for good dog boots I purchased both these dog boots and the socks and had high hopes based on the review. Unfortunately the boots slid off their feet constantly and I spent more time trying to locate the boots they left far, far away in the woods then actually enjoying the walk. The boots were not waterproof and both the socks and boots were fairly wet by the end of the walk. I'll keep searching for another pair that actually stays on to protect their paw pads.

by fromNot very durable I decided to get some booties for my dog to use at the gravel-coated dog park. My dog is very active and will sprint and slide around when playing, leading to his paw pads getting torn up pretty badly. When I put the booties on, this prevented his pads from getting hurt, but now all four booties have holes torn in them after only 3 1-hour play sessions at the park. Also, I noticed the boots turning upside down during play, although this might not be a problem if he didn't run so hard. Overall, these boots are definitely lacking in durability, but might be suitable for less strenuous activities. Maybe they'd be good for small dogs walking on salted pavement or something?

by fromLousy in cold and wet DO NOT STAY ON IN ICY OR SNOWY CONDITIONS it took about 10 minutes for the velcro to ice up and fail. had to stop and put boots back on countless times. you have to cinch down the velcro to get the boots snug on the foot, but there is no stay to keep the velcro strap from slipping off the top of the boot and onto the dog's ankle; so then the back of the boot sags open and debris can get in. absolutely no good in snow. the velcro icing up combined with the back of the boot sagging open makes them even more useless. the boots fall off in minutes or moisture gets in the back and freezes to your dog's pads : ( these were used on my 70 lb Am Staff to go adventuring in cold/wet weather (some snow, ice etc). i found them to be sized large, even though i measured my dog's pads and followed the size chart, I had to exchange for a smaller size. maybe if the boots were slightly shaped (like a sock) and had a neoprene cuff that folded up over the velcro to keep debris out, they would work. but these are getting returned

by fromwhat a joke Well, in one aspect, these suite my dogs needs. I purchased them to cover the dressing on his cut foot and to keep dirt off of it, so far it does this (this is day 1). This is literally the only reason I would ever get dog shoes, unless my dog was a SAR k9 that worked in disaster areas with broken glass and such or if he was a sled dog that did 50+ miles a day. Beyond these reasons I think shoes for dogs are an absurd product, along with rain coats, outdoor beds, dog tents and such. They are DOGS, they are designed to function perfectly out side with out our clothing. When you put these shoes on them, guess what, they cant use there claws and it alters the natural movement of their feet to provide stability and traction in various substrate. They don't need shoes for trail running like we do, next we will see sunglasses and ear muffs for dogs, get a grip, let your dog be a dog. Yes, my dog cut his foot running through the forest and these may have prevented that (or caused him to loose traction, slip and get hurt much worse), but cuts and bruises are part of life.
