Comments about Sea To Summit X-Bowl:

I bought this bowl for a four day backpacking trip and it worked quite well. It packed down small, and was plenty large to make two packs of oatmeal or eat a healthy bowl of ramen with craw-fish tails fresh from the river! My only concerns are that the bottom of the bowl gets rather hot if you pour boiling liquid into it, and that the material holds scent. Even after running the bowl through the dish washer after returning from a trip, it smells like brown sugar from the instant oatmeal. I’ll be keeping this in my bear can hanging from a tree from now on. Still a good product. I’m glad I bought it, and some of the other people on the trip are sure to buy one too.

Comments about Sea To Summit X-Bowl:

I feel bad for the first poster, because they must have came across a bad bowl. I couldn't have found a better product. Its very easy to clean, and very compact. The cutting board is great. I have used this bowl three times so far, and it shows no sign of wear. I would be curious to find out how the first poster's bowl has worn out already.

Packs down slim & holds more than I expected. Base as cutting board is very sweet. Not the lightest but definitely not the heaviest...the extra oz or so makes up in function.

Comments about Sea To Summit X-Bowl:

I own a couple of these bowls. I recently ran into some Marines hiking on the appalachian trail who had the bowl as well. we were all like-minded in our bowl opinions. - the best bowl yet. I like them so much I use them at home too. Folding flat sure helps in cramped NYC living conditions as well. Plus I'm a sucker for gadgets, and it's feels like a super-hero's bowl. I use these teamed up with the Guyot Designs Micro Bites, and everything's copastetic.

Comments about Sea To Summit X-Bowl:

I always test out any new gear at home before taking it on the trail.

When adding HOT soup for the first time there was a strong rubber smell, this may go away after a while but it was not for me.

For the price I found them a bit heavy and question how durable they will be over time.

They do not nestle, just stack. For me I like all my cookware in one neat nestled stack.

Comments about Sea To Summit X-Bowl:

Well, at first I didn't care much for this bowl. I was in the back country for a long period of time so I was limited on water for washing it. All of the crevices made it a bit of a pain to clean. But all of the other benefits outweigh that for sure. It was incredibly light and compact and fit in my cramped pack without a problem. A little expensive though.

Comments about Sea To Summit X-Bowl:

Bought for my wife so she didn't have to share the cookpot to eat from. But on the first night of the first trip of use it was bitten into by some marmots or some similar animal in the Sierras. Perhaps after salt from the rubber? Anyway it's of no more use. We both loved it before this mishap though.

Definitely store in your pot if you have to leave it out at night...

Used it on a five day trip in the backcountry and was very happy with it. Nice and compact for packing and not to small or to big for backcountry meals. I highly recommend this product.

Comments about Sea To Summit X-Bowl:

I once went on a vacation with a small (12 L) backpack. This (and a spork) was my only "kitchen" utensil. It worked great for cereal in the morning, or (with the 'walls' not deployed) a small plate for a bagel/muffin.

Then, I took it camping. It worked ok for that, but I had soup in it, and ate it standing up. The walls transfer heat well enough that I had to wait for the soup to cool down before holding it comfortably.

Lastly, the seam between the base, and the walls is difficult to get at- in order to clean it, I had to run water on it for an extended period of time- I am not fully convinced that it isn't a breeding/hiding ground for mold/germs/bacteria.

All in all, a decent piece of equipment, and something I will definitely bring along with me whenever I travel.
