Black Diamond Focus SA (Speed Adjust) harness delivers comfort and convenience while climbing long trad and sport routes.

  • New prethreaded Speed buckles on hipbelt and leg loops adjust quickly and easily and don't require doubling back
  • Buckles can be completely undone, allowing you to put the harness on while wearing crampons, plastic boots or skis
  • Padded, bullhorn-shaped waistbelt is ergonomically designed for all-day comfort; soft lining won't irritate skin
  • Adjustable bullhorn-shaped leg loops let you add layers for cool-weather climbing and are droppable for quick entry/exit
  • Upper edge of harness features SoftEdge™ construction for excellent comfort while climbing
  • Four pressure-molded gear loops cleanly rack quickdraws, cams and ice screws
  • Dedicated belay loop increases convenience and safety; full-strength rear haul loop allows you to trail a second rope on long multipitch routes

        Comments about Black Diamond Focus SA Harness:

        The buckle style is vastly superior to the old manual double-backing systems--adjustments can be made quickly and easily, and it is greatly easier to reach the optimal tightness. Leg loops are adjusted with the same buckle system.

        I A/B compared this harness against the Petzl Adjama (same price range) in the store and it is significantly more comfortable: the Adjama feels like it is biting into my waist when I really put weight into it. The padding on the Focus is exquisite. Unlike the Adjama which has sewn/sculpted leg loops, the Focus does takes some extra time to put it on because the leg loops can be flipped/backwards so you have to sort out the orientation of all the pieces before putting it on (which is usually all scrambled when you pull it out of your bag).

        The design of the waist belt is also quite nice and prevents the harness from sliding around significantly even in unusual orientations (sideways, upside-down, etc).

        Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

          The padded parts on the harness are excellent for long and hard climbs because its not just comfortable, but its also very light and safe. The bucles are top tecnology, very safe, and very easy to use, the two quickdraw handles on both sides of the harness are very convinient. There are no cons on this baby, except for the back leg straps are half size too big, and cant be tightened up any further.

            This is a great harness. It is infinitely more comfortable than my old Bod. The molded gear loops are nice for keeping stuff less bunched up. The speed adjust buckles are nice and, unlike the other reviewer, did not slip at all on me, not even a millimeter. The only con I notice is that it does not have releasable leg loops. I know this isn't a standard feature but my Bod had them and they are really convenient.

              This harness hits it right on the mark. It's comfortable to wear with the bullhorn shape, and handles a full trad rack well. My only wish would be for the gear loops to carry an extra biner's worth. Beyond that, I really like how there's no velcro to be found anywhere, since that was why I ditched my last one (clothing and slings would constantly get shredded on it). You can tell BD put alot of consideration and attention to detail with this one.
