The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 1.0L Reservoir - 34 fl. oz.:
I bought this Platypus for my Mountain Hardwear pack that did not come with a reservoir, but had a pocket for one. I wasn't sure which size to get, but thought I would start small and carry a couple water bottles as well. I hiked a couple trails at Zion and Grand Canyon and didn't even go through an entire reservoir each day. It was very convenient to use and did not leak.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 1.0L Reservoir - 34 fl. oz.:
This was my first hydration bladder experience. I was tired of dealing with water bottles and I thought I might be inclined to drink more if it were handier to use. I was right. It makes drinking water so easy.
I filled it the night before my first hike with it and hung it up--no leaks!
The big bite valve delivers a good dose of water and does not leak.
I will be adding a bite valve cover--I already know the advantage to it--you will get the mouthpiece dirty (no matter how hard you try) if you don't protect it.
You can keep it cooler by making a sleeve out of that mylar stuff they make car window shades out of (get at home improvement shops)--it works and it weighs only ounces. I happen to like my water COLD.
This is a perfect size bladder to use in the REI Flash 18!

Comments about Platypus Hoser 1.0L Reservoir - 34 fl. oz.:
I like the quality of the plastic better than the Nalgene canteens, and I liked that the edges are rounded and much easier on the fabric of my pack. Don't like the small mouth though, it's difficult to fill at some water sources and it cannot accept a SteriPen.
I bought the on/off valve, which I think should have been included in the price, and also a bite valve cover to keep it out of the dirt and cactus thorns.

It gets the job done, but 1-liter for anything past 3 hours in the sun probably won't cut it.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 1.0L Reservoir - 34 fl. oz.:
I just came back from a four-day hike in hot weather and can't say enough good things about this bladder with drinking tube. I was able to leave at home my in-the-pack reservoir which takes up a lot of space and is heavy even empty. Before I used the Platypus I soaked the hose and mouthpiece in a very weak bleach solution, then flushed it with clean water . . . no taste at all. I carried a spare Platypus bladder and a 3-liter collapsible, light-weight canteen. One thing, I'm going to super glue a string the cap of the spare bladder and tie it to the neck of the bladder so I won't worry about losing the cap.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 1.0L Reservoir - 34 fl. oz.:
I haven't yet used it on a hike, but in testing I found a very unpleasant "plastic" taste in the water. The manufacturer never replied to my email, but REI suggested a baking soda treatment. Instead I used cider vinegar, and after 2 treatments that seemed to work.
