Comments about REI Chefware French Press - 50 oz.:
I bought this coffee maker in December 2007. Used it for 6 weeks.
The plunger wobbles at the first one fourth of the container, so coffee grain escapes in what you get to drink. Even with very coarse ground coffee. If, if you wait for a long time in the end all the coffee gets soaked and will eventually sink. That reduces the grain in the coffee. For a “normal person” IMHO it seems ages the waiting and the drink gets cold.
More interesting is the question is the Lexan used BPA free?? You use nearly boiling water. That is the way to get most BPA out of Lexan as I understand.

Comments about REI Chefware French Press - 50 oz.:
I have used this for 3 months and already the handle connection to the pot has loosened and will soon come off. Also, within the first month the strainer began separating and filling with grounds. It cannot be taken apart to clean. I, too, am concerned that the Lexan contains BPA, which releases at a higher rate with hot temperatures.
