Comments about REI Comfort Lounger Chair:
Pros-Probably the most comfortable lounger on the market. Once you sit in it, you don't want to leave! I love the lock which holds the position you find most comfortable. Similar models require you to shift your body to hold them into place, but that is awkward and often doesn't work.
Cons-way too heavy for anything but car camping, outdoor events and home use. I wonder if it would have wider use if it was made in aluminum?

Comments about REI Comfort Lounger Chair:
Chair seems to be well made and is comfy, but beware that the chair is not a full reclining chair like a zero-gravity chair (not full horizontal recline). I wish it were! Also, we ordered the "earth" (brown) version and it came with orange colored armrests which are really ugly. It's pictured online with grey armrests on the brown colored chair, but they're actually orange as shown on the green colored chair.
I'll buy another one if they can locate the chairs without the orange armrests. It will be a good deck chair, but too large and heavy to transport.

Comments about REI Comfort Lounger Chair:
The tubes used for the frame are not completely sealed. Water gets in them in a rain storm, and when you pick it up to put it away, rusty water comes pouring from the tubes and makes a mess in your garage, patio, or camper.
It may not look like it's rusting from the outside, but once water gets in the tubes there is no way to competely dry them inside.

Comments about REI Comfort Lounger Chair:
I bought one of these as a gift for my brother. In 2007 I bought a different lounger from REI. That lounger is great and serves me well. REI no longer carries that brand. Now, they sell this private labelled chair. Superficially it seems nicer than the chair I bought in 2007: It has a captive pillow slider, fine mesh fabric and angle locks. The chair motion is very smooth.
However, the construction quality is awful, even dangerous. One pivot screw fell out during the first use at the campground. I fixed that. But, several other screws worked themselves loose and fell out on my brother's return drive from the campground. We are fortunate no one was hurt using this refuse. Now, instead of a nice reclining lounger, my brother has something to fill his garbage bin.

Comments about REI Comfort Lounger Chair:
Screws fell out after less than one week. Was this product even quality tested?
Apparently, this is a chronic issue with these chairs. Why not do a recall?!

Comments about REI Comfort Lounger Chair:
Comfy but didn't even get one use out of it before one of the pivot screws fell out. I could not find it but REI gladly refunded my money. May buy a different brand.

Comments about REI Comfort Lounger Chair:
I just had back surgery, and cannot sit upright in a regular chair. I sent my husband out to get this from our neighborhood REI, and I have found it is ideal for my current needs. I have to keep my spine straight, so now I can sit down carefully, then when settled I can press until the chair reclines to just the right angle, with perfect knee support. It gives just the right firm support for my back, at exactly the most comfortable angle. Now I can read, watch television and take a nap in full comfort. The arms are positioned well so that I can use them to lever myself out of the chair without twisting. I know it wasn't designed for post-surgery use, but it is just great. And after recovery, I can fold it up and store it easily, that's if I'm willing to be parted from this most excellent recliner. I figure if its good for post-back surgery, its probably good support for those who don't have a back problem too.

Comments about REI Comfort Lounger Chair:
Designed for wide people rather than tall people. The XL is only going to fit folks under 6 feet tall.

Comments about REI Comfort Lounger Chair:
This is a VERY comfortable chair with excellent ergonomics. Note that the negative reviews about screws coming loose were posted Nov. '08 & prior, and the product description contains a note that issues regarding fasteners/screws have been addressed. That said, this is by far one of the most comfortable chairs I have ever owned (I'm 5'11"/185 lbs). While it is heavy (20 lbs.) and bulky, I found it to be perfect for car camping and general use. I spent many hours in this chair at a 3-day Phish festival in Indio, CA this past weekend, and I found it useful for snoozing, eating or doing a crossword puzzle. 2 levers under the arms allow you to lock the chair in whatever position you like. At its most upright position, the chair is still a tad reclined, but that's fine with me. The mesh material allows you to stay cool (it was 90+ degrees at the festival). I even use this chair in my living room and will do so especially during the Tucson summers, with a small fan strategically pointed at the back of the chair. For cool nights stargazing, I toss an old sleeping bag on the chair -- the fact that it's a mesh chair will allow me to use it year-round. Some reviewers noted that the tubes aren't fully sealed and water can get in, but I've never been one to leave a piece of furniture like this exposed to the elements -be it rain or sun- as that would only hasten wear & tear. I haven't had this chair very long, but it is getting daily use. If possible, I will update this post once I determine that the chair can withstand the test of time. I considered the more expensive LaFuma chair, but for that price I can also get the REI Stowaway chair [...] Happy reclining!
