Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 42 Pack:
Great pack that surprisingly fits a large amount of gear. I am able to pack enough gear and food into this pack for up to a 4 day trip. Like the idea of the built in rain cover. 1 problem is that when you have the side compression straps cinched a little and you want to either take your water bottle out or put it back into the mesh side pocket, you must loosen the compression strap all the way and lift it out of the way and then cinch it up again.

Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 42 Pack:
More features than Osprey Talon 44 (tougher,
better suspension system). Better than North Face Terra 40 (more features, like a rain cover which comes out the bottom). Better than REI branded packs (sturdier top, easier access). Better than
Cabela's, and Kelty's (Sturdier built, better zippers and sturdier shoulder straps - although
shoulder straps not as cushioned as North Face) Bought for my son who has a thin waist - it is very adjustable in torso and chest. Will hike with cargo shorts, so no need for pockets on the belt (except the lower Deuter model does have this - it is a nice feature).

Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 42 Pack:
After several days of driving around, numerous shops, hours of putting-on and taking-off probably 25+ models, even more hours of reading and reading and reading online, (and one seriously awful 14 mile over-night test run with a pack that'll remain anonymous...[but its initals are Atmos 50]), it would seem I have found the holy grail; a pack between 30 & 55 litres that doesn't [*]!! Unbelievable? I thought so, too... Hark: You know how the suspension on any pack in which the manufacturer is expecting the user to pack no more than 25-30 lbs. is so shoulder-strap-centric that a couple hours of carrying a measly two-stone-load feels like the ghost of John Candy was sitting on your shoulders? And how the hip belt is generally so thin and lousy that one could reasonably expect to not have a tan line on one's hips if one were carrying the pack wearing nothing but one's birthday suit in mid-day desert sun? And how the frame (if it even HAS one) is made up of re-purposed aluminum tent poles from REI's Doggie Dome?? Behold: The Deuter Futura Pro 42. Three words: Integrated Rain Cover. Four Characters: [$]Too good to be true? I don't know, man, I'm becoming a believer...And one more thing: Their one-size design actually works. The pack fits me (6' 1") AND my wife (5' 4"). (Note: Not at the same time. Don't attempt that. Someone could get hurt.)

Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 42 Pack:
The mesh back panel on Deuter packs is what backpacking has been waiting for. I sweat pretty easily, so on a warm day, the back of my shirt is wet after 10 minutes of hiking with a pack on. The mesh panel actually allows any breeze to flow in between your back and your pack (about a 1"-2" gap). The fact that it's comfortable, has a rain cover, hydration bladder compatibilty, etc. makes this my new favorite pack. I just wish there were more straps, and maybe some bungees on the outside of the pack.

Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 42 Pack:
For reference: I'm 6'2" 155lbs
I'm a 'minimalist' that fits everything I need for a 2-3 night trip in here. I don't mean the minimalist that takes a tarp, a sleeping bag, a jacket and some food. I take everything that I need: 2 person Tent, sleeping bag, pad, stove w/ fuel, 2 extra sets of clothing, food, 2+ liters of water, and all of my little gadgets.
Outside of the high quality seaming and material used, this pack has great features like: built in rain cover, sleeping bag compartment, ice hooks/gear hooks, inside and outside pockets on lid, 2 water bottle pockets, and the expandable pockets along the side are great for energy bars or gadgets.
I could talk forever about this pack, but one of the points that made me snag it up was that it actually fit! For my body, I needed a pack that would be comfortable and offered a slender hip belt and a large torso size...I found it! Try this pack out if you are slender and having troubles finding a pack.
I love this pack and am very happy with my purchase. Every person I pack out with is astonished as to what I fit within this little guy, as am I. Don't let the size fool you!

Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 42 Pack:
I love this pack! I bought this pack shortly after we got our 6 year old a Deuter Fox 30 for his 1st overnight backpacking trip this summer. I fell in love with what his pack offered so I returned my newly purchased Osprey Tallon 44 for the Futura Pro 42 and couldn't be happier. The pack fits better than anything I have ever put on, I don't have a typical backpackers body (short and stumpy), which made it quite difficult to find a quality pack at a value.
I found exactly what I was looking for in this pack; a great fitting pack that actually has a superior design. Accessing gear is very easy, it can hold water bladders of any shape or size, compresses for small, medium or large loads and has the best trampoline suspension system available. If you are tired of having a sweety back - get a Futura and it won't bother you ever again.
The pack feels sturdy and you can tell that it will last and hold up to some tough trips. Deuter is not a well known product yet, but it will be the only pack my family purchases from now on.

Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 42 Pack:
This is a pretty great bag so far. I actually packed it up for a 4 day trip/vacation to Vegas and they considered it carry-on. It had no problems fitting into the overhead bin. And it had no problems holding 4 days worth of clothes, toiletries, 2 pairs of shoes, flip flops, and other various things.
It has a built-in rain cover which seems like it is pretty solid. Below the main compartment is a smaller compartment that has a zipper which, when open, will extend the main compartment to the full length of the bag. But the best part about the bag is that the actual bag does not lay across your back. It is held out by the frame and there is a layer of mesh that lays across your back. This helps prevent getting an extra sweaty back from the bag.

I've had my Deuter for about a month now and it has served me very well. I most recently went on an overnight winter camping trip and between myself and a friend we had everything we needed (Tent,20 Degree bag, cold weather gear). Aso I recently skied Tuckerman's Ravine with this bag.It worked really well strapping skis to the side. If camping in the summer months this bag would be big enough for atleast three nights. Also, if a person is backpacking through hostels in Europe I think this bag would be great considering it will probabley be classified as a carry-on and its size will force you to travel light

I just got back from a 7 day excursion in the Colorado mountains and it was the first time for me to use this pack. It felt great the whole time and didn't leave my back and neck aching. The only con that I can think of is that there aren't enough pockets!

Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 42 Pack:
I took this pack on day trips and an overnight in NH's White Mtns. and it performed to expectations. Nice backband to let the air circulate and very stable when hiking. The included rain cover is a nice plus. The hipbelt could be a little better but otherwise, I have no complaints. Nice pack for the price and I even got it on sale.
