These J-41 Dune sandals are part sandal, part shoe, but all the way rugged and cute!

  • Strappy, tumbled leather uppers are flexible yet durable
  • Rip-and-stick tab on lateral side allows easy entry and an adjustable fit at the instep
  • Rubber toe bumpers and rands protect uppers and toes
  • Leather linings and topsoles are smooth against bare skin

    My wife purchased a pair 2 days before leaving for a 17 day trip to Europe. She wore them for the 2 days before the trip and found them very comfortable. The first day in Europe after walking (light duty, paved roads) for maybe 3 miles total, the shoes started falling apart. The insole lining glue appears to have failed. We'd throw them out/recycle, but now have to pack them all the way along our trip until we can return them once we get back. Need to shop for a new pair (not these!)

      I purchased these to wear for casual outdoor time with my children. I loved how cute they were but within a few weeks the leather strap came off the insole and was not replaceable. I returned them to REI. It is too bad, they are a great looking shoe....

      I LOVE these shoes and they are so cute and extremely comfortable. BUT, I have worn them twice and the footbed is coming apart from itself and they rub the back of my heels. If it were not for the footbed I would wear bandaids on my heels until they break-in enough to stop causing a blister to form. Also, due to the other reviews I think I'll be returning them and getting a whole new shoe, not exchanging for a new pair. It's too bad because I really loved these shoes!

        I wore them for 30 minutes, and they chewed holes in the back of my heals. I've had to wear back-less shoes for several days while I mend. The back of the Dune sandal is designed poorly - the heal is angled forward sharply. Why?! Too bad, because the shoes are cute as they can be. I will be returning these to REI.

        The shoe itself is very comfortable. However the main problem is that the foot bed liner is poorly made.After wearing them with barefeet and then taking them off the lining would peel back with my feet. I returned my first pair to the store and exchanged them for another pair. Guess what? same thing happened again.! I liked them enough to try and work this out so on really hot days I wore them with low cut nude nylon ped socks. (very dork like I know -but it works!) Also I am generally a very consistent size 7.5 but I found
        the size 7 to be a better fit.

          These are fabulous shoes! I read the other reviewer's comments and felt compelled to describe my experience. I have worn these shoes for the past 5 months, nearly every day. They have kept my toes protected at school, kept the wood chips out of my shoes during recess duty, and been worn on numerous all day outings in Boston and Washington DC, requiring lots of walking. There was a very short break in period of a week or so, but with no blisters. The quality of the shoe is excellent. Despite daily use in all kinds of conditions including rain, they look new. The arch supports makes these shoes extremely comfortable. One of the footbeds began to peel up at the heel, but I just used some glue to stick it back down without a problem. I don't think it would have peeled on its own, but a cup of coffee was spilled into that shoe a month ago. The other footbed is fine. I own the black style, maybe the other colors aren't as durable? In any case, I am buying another pair to wear next spring and summer!

          I loved these shoes the moment that I saw them in the store. They are very cute and pretty comfy. However after about 2 weeks of wear, the insole started coming up. Problem is, when the insole comes up, the foam lining tears, and chunks fall off...so if you put the insole back in, it feels really strange and not comfy. I'll be taking these back today, but I'm VERY upset that these didn't work out.

          straps on side of shoes not strong enough pull apart

          I wore them walking around Washington D.C. thank goodness I had a first aid kit with a lot of bandaids. I had blisters on my pinky toes and side of my feet. Taking them back, to bad they are cute.
