Comments about REI MultiTowel Lite - Medium:
For years I have used a first-generation MSR Pack Towel, but recently replaced it with the REI Multitowel. What an incredible upgrade! It's quite soft (much softer than my old MSR Pack Towel), very light and extremely absorbent. The medium sized version proved itself to be more than adequate for use by two people during a week-long trip on the AT, including drying off from a shower at a campground we passed through. It wrings out well, and dries quickly.
If you're looking to minimize weight and bulk in your backpack, the medium size (a little bigger than 2' x 1') will do just fine for the trail. The large size (roughly 3' x 2') is probably better suited for gym or pool use, and is lots more towel than needed for backpacking.
I'm expecting this to be as durable and long-lasting as the MSR packtowel, but a final judgment on that will have to wait a while. Nevertheless, considering the price, it's a great value.
Note: No biggie, but give it a good washing first, as the color will tend to run with a first use.

Comments about REI MultiTowel Lite - Medium:
Recently went backpacking through Rocky Mountain NP and got trapped in a hail/snow/lightning storm 2 miles above tree line. We were cold, defeated, and drenched, even with "waterproof" gear. This towel saved the trip. It's so absorbent that it nearly dries your clothes and you can completely wring out the water just as fast. We managed to suck out about all of the water out of our shoes, socks, fleece jackets, pants, packs, and even sleeping bags with this thing. This towel, by itself, rebuilt our spirit and got us motivated to continue our trip.
Bought it for the trip, so I'm not sure about its durability, but when you need it, it's the best thing you can have. It was well worth the money.

Comments about REI MultiTowel Lite - Medium:
Perfect size for backpacking or hiking, especially when you aren't expecting to go swimming or get wet, but it is still a possibility. It is light enough and the right size to wear as a bandanna, and has a great little fabric loop clip so you don't drop it if you're just hanging it around your neck. I've tried some other camping towels and wasn't nearly as impressed by them as I was by this towel.
Boy, I never thought I'd be so happy about a towel.

Comments about REI MultiTowel Lite - Medium:
This towel really absorbs water! I use it all the time, I like the little clip it has, I can clip it to my pack for quick use, or clip it on something to hang dry. I love the carrier it comes with, I can use it for putting my little toiletries in. It's a very useful and essential item for me! Thanks Rei

I bought this for a vacation trip as a hand towel for backpacking. Now one of these towels goes with me everywhere. I keep one in the car, in a day pack, and in my computer bag.
It's really a good, effective, and practical product.

Comments about REI MultiTowel Lite - Medium:
I have been using the MSR Packtowl Personal for years. REI has now come out with their own line that is comparable to it. The medium towel is 27.5" x 15.5" and is great for day hikes or the towel to put in your toiletry kit.
It absorbs quite a bit and dries quickly. There is a sewn-in strap with a buckle that allows you to hang it to dry. It also comes with a reusable zippered pouch. The pouch is divided into two sections: mesh section to store the towel and a separate vinyl section to store toiletries.
I haven't used it long enough to rate the durability, but I would highly recommend pre-washing (as recommended by REI) the towel prior to using it. This is a great, space saving towel to add to your gear.
