Comments about REI Venus 75 Pack - '08 Women's:
I usually have a love/hate relationship with my backpack, but this one I just love. It puts zero strain on my shoulders and the padding, which seemed too bulky at first, really keeps the load comfortable over the long haul. I have used it on three trips so far and have no complaints. The zippers are tough, including the waterproof outer ones, the buckles are shaped so you can tell which one goes to which clip and the pockets are well-placed and good sizes. I recommend this to anyone. Plus I like the color.

Comments about REI Venus 75 Pack - '08 Women's:
I love this pack! 1st about me: I am 5'4' and weigh about 120...I have a small waist and am very bony around my collarbones, shoulders and pelvic bones. I went through 3 other packs before trying out this one and finally being pain free. This pack is a bit on the heavy side but it carries the weight well...The padding is awesome and there is a lot of it. I just used it for 2 weeks on Aconcagua where I carried anywhere from 40 to 50lbs depending on the day. No problem! I never struggled or hurt anywhere! I love all of its functionality especially the ease of packing due to the side zips. My only complaint has to do with the small side pocket that really has no purpose...I would rather have another mesh/stretchy pocket like it on the other side...especially on a colder trip so that I have ample convenient storage for my water bottles (must have 2).
Otherwise, this pack is one of the best out there...buy it on sale and you'll be singing sweet deal all the way to the summit!

I bought this pack four years ago and have used it on several backpacking trips. Most recently, I brought it on the thirty day trip I led through the Shawnee National Forest. This pack is tough. Its lasted through four years of all sorts of weather and hasn't shown any wear.

Comments about REI Venus 75 Pack - '08 Women's:
This pack is fantastic! I went on a weekend camping excursion that required me to pack much of my own equipment (food, pots, water purifier, burner, sleeping bag, tent etc.) and everything fit perfectly. It is light-weight with plenty of pockets right where you need them for easy organization. It would be far to large for day trip, but if you are out for 1+ days, this is the pack for you.

I have been using this backpack for 2 years. My favorite part is the side zippers! I can pack tons of clothes, and when I go to find something at the bottom, I can just open the side zipper so I don't have to take everything out! Great pockets for storage. Straps are perfect for strapping on my therma-rest. Sleeping back fits in bottom (though I have to work really hard to stuff it)

I went through the Philmont Scout Ranch with this pack and it was an amazing two weeks. This pack kept most of my things dry even without the pack cover. It was very easy to load although when I tried to bend the stays to contour to my back, it was very difficult.

Comments about REI Venus 75 Pack - '08 Women's:
I recently rented this backpack from REI for a weekend trip. It was brand new. I love everything about this pack except the weight. I am a minimalist and this pack is just too heavy for my style. The pack has great cushioning in both the shoulder and hip belt. It has numerous pockets and large cup holders on the sides. It is a great pack if you are not worried about the weight.

Comments about REI Venus 75 Pack - '08 Women's:
I've had my bag for 4 years and it traveled with me everywhere I went. It is a great bag for any kind of traveling, affordable, easy to pack, isn't in a funny pastel color, and has very functional pockets. The downside was that the model from '05 had straps that were made of a single strip of styrofoam which broke into chunks and ceased to provide back support. If the current model had a top compartment that converted to a day-use bag it would be my top choice for a replacement!

Did not know carrying weight could be so comfortable! Great ventilation system and padding - never felt that bear canister or anything else digging into my back. Lots of room; nice color. Kept stuff dry in light rain. Had room for all gear (including bear canister!) for a 5 day hike. Strongly recommend this to anyone, especially someone returning to backpacking after 20 years (like me). Wow, have the designs been improved!

Comments about REI Venus 75 Pack - '08 Women's:
I used this pack several times for 2-3 overnight backpacking trips. Initially the straps seem quite bulky but on the long run are extremely comfortable. I could easily fit all I had into the bag and there was plenty of space left. Actually I would like to have the same pack just a little smaller. You can tighten all straps and it becomes nice and compact but the weight of the pack stays the same.
Biggest con is the weight of the pack itself.
Still a great choice
